Special Message from our Chair, Angela Merritt
Dear FCHCC friends:
As we bring 2019 to a close, I feel it is important to reflect on the success of the First Coast Hispanic Chamber of Commerce this year. We have had two successful signature events. One where we honored our class of
2019 Excellence in Business Awards
Winners and another honoring our
Achieving the Dream Scholarship
recipients. We shared perspectives with local community leaders during our Unity Breakfast, Education modules to help local business leaders focus during our workshop series. Then in October, we were honored by the
United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
as
Chamber of the Year
.
While all of these are amazing successes, I feel the most important accomplishment of 2019 isn’t anything I previously listed. I feel the overwhelming commitment to this community, making changes to impact it and everyone being united in that effort is our biggest success.
In 2019, all of our events have been at capacity and our calendar has been packed. I have watched countless volunteers step up to help with events and our programs. I have watched past members and leadership of the FCHCC become re-engaged. We had full committees for our signature events this year. On behalf of the Board of Directors, THANK YOU! You have made a difference this year.
Thank you to all of our sponsors for our
2019 Hispanic Heritage Gala & ATD Awards
listed below. This event wouldn’t be possible without your support. You have truly made Hispanic Heritage month more memorable for this year. Thank you to the
Jacksonville Jaguars
who not only were our presenting sponsor but made football jerseys and donated tickets to make the event special for our students. And save the date for the
2020 Hispanic Heritage Gala & ATD Awards
to be held October 2nd!
Finally, I would like to thank my board, membership and committee members. This year has truly been a team effort. I am so proud of everyone for your commitment to making a difference and have been amazed what we can accomplish as a team. We looking forward to what 2020 has in store for us.
Sincerely,
Angela Merritt
FCHCC Chair of the Board
