Fireside Conversation

In their upcoming talk, Antisemitism in America: The Past Is Present, Again, Dr. Pamela Nadell and Andrew Lapin come together for a timely fireside conversation examining the historical roots and contemporary realities of antisemitism in the United States.Drawing on scholarship and journalism, they will explore how lessons from the past can inform the role of Jewish museums and institutions today.

With regional wars, rising anti-Israel sentiment, and conspiracy theories fueling heightened levels of antisemitism across both the political right and left, American Jews are facing an increasingly precarious moment. Yet this is far from the first time the United States has grappled with such challenges.

How can Jewish museums and institutions draw on their knowledge of the past to help educate the public about antisemitism on the home front?

Dr. Pamela Nadell, professor at American University and author of Antisemitism: An American Tradition, will explore these questions in conversation with Andrew Lapin, reporter at the Jewish Telegraphic Agency and creator and host of the podcast Radioactive: The Father Coughlin Story.

Their timely perspective will help frame our collective conversation on history, memory, and civic responsibility.

CAJM will keep the AAM conversation going with a panel at the conference that builds on this theme. Join the webinar, then come experience it IRL at the conference as we dive deeper into digitization in the museum field.
