Bishop & Leslie Bledsoe visit PACAF Chaplain, Pat McCain

Bishop W. Earl Bledsoe and his wife, Leslie, visited us January 10-17th for an orientation to our United Methodist ministry.  This was a fantastic visit!  We not only had the chance to show them my ministry as the PACAF Chaplain, we also gave them a chance to meet our Airmen and family members, hear their stories, and understand the stressors of military life.  We enjoyed spending time with our episcopal leadership and were so very grateful for the investment of their time and energy

6 Tips on Crowdfunding for Churches

by Heather Hahn
The Kickstarter-launched rock album. The Indiegogo-funded science lab. The GoFundMe-aided charity.
In this increasingly connected online world, is crowdfunding that one weird trick churches need to bolster giving?
Crowdfunding is the commonly used term for raising small amounts of money from a large number of people for a project or venture - typically via certain websites and related social media.
The General Council on Finance and Administration, The United Methodist Church's finance agency, has   published a guide  for U.S. churches considering crowdfunding sites.
The agency's overall message: User beware.
The recommendations, approved by the agency's board, are:
  1. Be careful what you ask for and promise in return.
"United Methodist ministries should only solicit donations for charitable causes, without a promise of rewards such as tote bags, T-shirts, etc.," the agency says.

A Thank you from McCurdy Ministries
Bishop Bledsoe at McCurdy Ministries Pre-K class.

Last Giving Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016, was a great success for McCurdy Ministries due in part to donations given by our friends from the New Mexico Annual Conference. In 2016, Global Ministries made a decision not to provide match for donations given through the United Methodist Advance on Giving Tuesday. With the help of several faithful New Mexico United Methodist donors $32,000 of match was donated to McCurdy Ministries for Giving Tuesday. The result was we raised over $62,352 through our Giving Tuesday Campaign. The best news is EVERY GIFT WAS MATCHED! Worldwide United Methodist giving to the Advance on Giving Tuesday fell from $2.3 million in 2015 to $853,910 in 2016. But McCurdy Ministries raised $62,362 in 2015 and $62,355 in 2016 because of your generosity.
As a result children and youth in the EspaƱola Valley are educated, fed, challenged at summer camp, cared for after school and the whole family is provided mental health services at no cost. Every school day we touch the lives of more than 500 students and our donors are truly the hands of Christ in our community. We send our thanks to you with appreciation for the ways you support our children and youth through your prayers, your service, your witness and your gifts.
