Mid-Year Clergy Retreat - Feb. 5 - 8th
RSVP Now - 575-687-3414
Important Road Repair Information: Due to some unfortunate timing, and necessary road construction, all lanes on Highway 82, east of High Rolls, will either be closed or using a pilot car to route traffic starting Monday, Feb. 6, at 7am until Friday, Feb. 10, weather permitting. This obviously affects those south of us, as well as those coming from the Albuquerque area. W e will provide a DOT update prior to the Retreat.
If you are in the Albuquerque area, you can avoid this construction by continuing
through Carrizozo on HWY 380 to the HWY 37 turnoff towards Ruidoso/Nogal. You'll then take HWY 70 toward Mescalero, 244 toward Cloudcroft, 82 toward Mayhill, and traveling to Sacramento from there. Refer to a map or your GPS for specifics (Note - Some GPS routes include Lunim Rd just before Weed. This road does not exist).
If coming from the South (Las Cruces, El Paso, et c.) you will go to Tularosa, then onto HWY 70 to Mescalero, taking 244 toward Cloudcroft, 82 toward Mayhill, etc. Refer to a map or your GPS for specifics (Note- Some GPS routes include Lunim Rd just before Weed. This road does not exist.)
That being said, we would like everyone, if possible, to arrive on Sunday instead, before construction begins! Sacramento will provide complimentary lodging for everyone's Sunday night stay as well as Monday breakfast. If you have already booked and pre-paid for Sunday, we can reimburse you for Sunday night and Monday breakfast, or you may donate it to the camp as a love offering. We are more than happy to do either!
Please be aware that the detours will affect your travel home at the end of the retreat.
The road closure is dependent on the weather. Check www.nmroads.com for current road closures.
We apologize for this inconvenience. Please call the office 575-687-3414, to turn your Monday arrival into a Sunday Arrival! Thank you.

PowerPoint Tools and Timing Techniques for Churches
by Don Richardson

We know we can enhance worship services and other programs through the use of PowerPoint slides, but many people preparing the slides don't have the training or knowledge about additional tools that can really elevate the flow of worship.
Here are some tools and timing techniques for you to consider:
Show videos
Videos can be shown from a PowerPoint slide by dragging the video file from your desktop or folder directly into the slide. There is no need to switch to a video program or separate DVD/video machine; you just go to that slide.
There is a volume adjustment in PowerPoint that allows you to select a volume setting of "low," "medium" or "high" for your video or audio. If you show several videos (and/or audios) in your program, this adjustment can help put all of these volumes in the same ballpark for further delivery to your sound system.
PowerPoint now allows you to "trim" the videos in your slides. Trimming the opening and/or closing ends of your video eliminates the annoyingly long blank leaders, trailers or unnecessary opening and closing material.
