Happy Thanksgiving!

In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies. For more than two centuries, days of thanksgiving were celebrated by individual colonies and states. It wasn't until 1863, in the midst of the Civil War, that President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national Thanksgiving Day to be held each November. The History Channel

Support McCurdy Ministries during our
2016 Giving Tuesday Event - November 21-29, 2016
In 2014 and 2015, we were grateful that Global Ministries provided match for donations given online through the United Methodist Advance on Giving Tuesday. Last year we received a total of $62,362 through the Advance including $14,265 in match from Global Ministries.   While Global Ministries is once again promoting Giving Tuesday, they are not providing match this year. The New Mexico Annual Conference has been very supportive of McCurdy Ministries and this year two anonymous New Mexico donors who believe in the difference that we are making in the name of Jesus Christ in EspaƱola, have provided McCurdy Ministries with $20,000 of matching funds for McCurdy's Giving Tuesday 2016.
We are so thankful for these anonymous donors that we wanted to share this good news with you. Their generosity means that your gift of $100 will become $200 or a $1000 will become $2,000. This year our theme for Giving Tuesday is "Give light. Give love. Give life." In addition, we are making it easier for you to make a donation to McCurdy during our Giving Tuesday Event. Your gift up to $2,500 will be matched as long as the match lasts if you give in one of these three ways:
  1. Send a check to McCurdy Ministries for Giving Tuesday to McCurdy Ministries, 362A S. McCurdy Road, EspaƱola, NM 87532. The envelope must be postmarked between Nov. 21 and Nov. 29 and please mark the check "Giving Tuesday."
  2. From Nov. 21 through Nov. 29, you can go to our website at  www.mccurdy.org/give.html to make a donation. Please specify the donation is for Giving Tuesday to qualify for the match.
  3. On Nov. 29, 2016, you can go to  www.umcmission.org/give.html to give to McCurdy through the United Methodist Advance. Only gifts given on Nov. 29 through this option will be applied to the $20,000 match.
Please call Rev. Diana Loomis at 505-753-7221, ext. 352 or email: dloomis@mccurdy.org, if you have questions about Giving Tuesday. As you prepare for Thanksgiving, we hope you will remember the children who get a wonderful start to their education through our preschool, the hungry tummies fed through our breakfast and lunch program, the lives saved because of the listening ears of our counselors, the students who have a safe place to play and learn after school, the students who learn about science, math and Jesus through our summer camp and the volunteers who share love of Jesus and work hard around our campus.
Most importantly please know this Thanksgiving we, at McCurdy Ministries, are giving thanks to God for our friends in the New Mexico Annual Conference.

Operation 100

Mission - Form disciples to be the engine of a radical evangelistic project. Recruit 100 worshipers, passionate about the Gospel. Celebrate together with a service of anointing and covenant. Equip through a Scripture, Fasting and Prayer. Send 100 worshipers to prepare the spiritual ground to Reach with power and authority the great harvest through operation Andrew.
In its essence "Operation 100" is a set of actions including the recruitment of 100 worshipers, times of fasting, prayer, celebration and worship chain, concluding in a different strategy. This different strategy: "Operation Andrew" will be used to reach all those who are hungry for the Word of God. Consequently, they will be integrated into the United Methodist Church.
"Operation 100" challenges our whole conference but specifically all of the Hispanic/Latino churches, to promote radical evangelism. This represents the most radical strategy that the Evangelism Team & The Hispanic/Latino Movement will be applying for a period of five years. We must add that "Operation 100" has no conferential boundaries, nor does it have cultural or
idiomatic barriers; it is for all those who desire to be part of it under a covenant of

Cruise to Cuba with Bishop & Leslie Bledsoe
October 1-8, 2017
Why Cuba?  It is one of the fastest growing areas for Methodism in the Caribbean.  As your bishop, I believe we can learn much from our neighbors from the South.  Since relations between the USA and Cuba have opened up for more travel and contact, we want to learn more about the Cuban culture and their religious experiences.  The Cuban church has quadrupled in growth over the last 15 years with the average age of clergy to be 30 years.  This will be a mission-focused trip for the purpose of learning more about the Cuban culture and experiences.  If you're serious in your desire to immerse yourself in another culture, this is your invitation to join us October 1 through 8, 2017 for a spiritual journey to Cuba!
Bishop W. Earl & Leslie Bledsoe  Whether you are laity or clergy, you can choose to be a Tour Host for this cruise and earn your trip by inviting 7 people to join you.  Contact Clyde Stanfield at (505)681-4479 or cstanfield58@comcast.net. Reservations received after June 3rd may incur additional fees based on availability.
