Bishop Bledsoe & NM Conference Reps Travel Across the Conference

Bishop Bledsoe will be visiting towns across the Conference on a spring itineration. Joining him will be the DS of location, CF&A representative, Insurance/Benefits representative, Randall Partin, Provost and Sid Strebeck, Conference Lay Leader and others.

The United Methodist Church is facing change and challenge from within.  Simultaneously, we have the opportunity to bring light and grace to an uncertain world without.  The Bishop felt compelled to travel throughout the NM & NWTX Conferences to provide an update, address questions and concerns and listen to what is happening around the Conference.  At a time when our differences tend to be more prominent, this will be an opportunity to talk and focus on what binds us together.  Please choose a time and location that is most convenient and join us for a time of sharing.  The Conference wants to hear from you!  Questions?  Contact Randall Partin at (505)255-8786 or

Advent Call to Worship Based on Isaiah 11:1-10
by Rev. Nathan Decker
We come to worship the coming King. The One who was and is and is to come!
Robed in Justice, carrying equity in his heart,
Righteousness is a belt around his waist, faithfulness in the clasps of his sandals.
We have prepared ourselves for worship.
We intend to do no harm; to love our neighbors and to stay in love with God!
We look forward to the Reign of the coming King!
The wolves will walk with the lambs; the leopards skip with the kids;
and the calves will be friends with the lion cubs.
Peace will come through the root of Jesse, and we will abide with the King!

Support McCurdy Ministries!
2016 Giving Tuesday Event - November 21-29, 2016
In 2014 and 2015, we were grateful that Global Ministries provided match for donations given online through the United Methodist Advance on Giving Tuesday. Last year we received a total of $62,362 through the Advance including $14,265 in match from Global Ministries.   While Global Ministries is once again promoting Giving Tuesday, they are not providing match this year. The New Mexico Annual Conference has been very supportive of McCurdy Ministries and this year two anonymous New Mexico donors who believe in the difference that we are making in the name of Jesus Christ in EspaƱola, have provided McCurdy Ministries with $20,000 of matching funds for McCurdy's Giving Tuesday 2016.
We are so thankful for these anonymous donors that we wanted to share this good news with you. Their generosity means that your gift of $100 will become $200 or a $1000 will become $2,000. This year our theme for Giving Tuesday is "Give light. Give love. Give life." In addition, we are making it easier for you to make a donation to McCurdy during our Giving Tuesday Event. Your gift up to $2,500 will be matched as long as the match lasts if you give in one of these three ways:
  1. Send a check to McCurdy Ministries for Giving Tuesday to McCurdy Ministries, 362A S. McCurdy Road, EspaƱola, NM 87532. The envelope must be postmarked between Nov. 21 and Nov. 29 and please mark the check "Giving Tuesday."
  2. From Nov. 21 through Nov. 29, you can go to our website at to make a donation. Please specify the donation is for Giving Tuesday to qualify for the match.
  3. On Nov. 29, 2016, you can go to to give to McCurdy through the United Methodist Advance. Only gifts given on Nov. 29 through this option will be applied to the $20,000 match.
Please call Rev. Diana Loomis at 505-753-7221, ext. 352 or email:, if you have questions about Giving Tuesday. As you prepare for Thanksgiving, we hope you will remember the children who get a wonderful start to their education through our preschool, the hungry tummies fed through our breakfast and lunch program, the lives saved because of the listening ears of our counselors, the students who have a safe place to play and learn after school, the students who learn about science, math and Jesus through our summer camp and the volunteers who share love of Jesus and work hard around our campus.  Most importantly please know this Thanksgiving we, at McCurdy Ministries, are giving thanks to God for our friends in the New Mexico Annual Conference.

November Progress Report from the Moderators of a Way Forward
The moderators of the Commission on a Way Forward are, left to right: Bishop David Yemba, Bishop Ken Carter and Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball.
The moderators of the Commission on a Way Forward met on November 17-18, 2016 to continue planning for the Commission's work. Our hope and prayer for The United Methodist Church is that we will be united and vital, missional and global. As we began, we discussed a number of practical matters, beginning with visas for our international members. We took into consideration issues of security and confidentiality, with the need to build intimacy and trust among commission members, and the corresponding desire of the whole church for consistent information and updating of the progress of the commission. We recognize that we do our work within this tension.
We plan to integrate the values of inclusiveness as we shape the covenant by which we will do our work. And we are committed, at the conclusion of each meeting, to be available for questions and answers and to provide a summary of the outcomes.
