Annual Healthflex Election Period
The Annual HealthFlex Election period for clergy and their families and also lay employees enrolled in Healthflex starts on October 31st and runs until November 15th. If you have any questions, please contact Dru Ann Kuntz, Conference Benefits Officer at 505-255-8786, ext. 102 or [email protected].
Coaching Training - RSVP Now!
Coaching Training will be offered in all three districts in November. You can find out more and register online.

What is Coaching?  Coaching assumes a certain level of health and well-being – it is NOT counseling. It doesn’t assume expertise or experience – it is NOT mentoring or advising. The main premise is that the Coachee has all the answers within themselves. A coach uses their innate curiosity, ability to listen and coaching training to help the Coachee shift perspective, identify obstacles or limiting beliefs, and regain momentum in order to move toward their goals or desires.

Coaches work with newly appointed pastors as well as pastors who need a sounding board or feel stuck. They work with participants in programs who have an idea for ministry and want help bringing it to fruition. They work with lay leaders, committees and congregations who want to consider next steps. There are many uses for coaches and you can be part of this positive way forward. Questions? Contact Blossom Matthews at [email protected] .
Pastors in Pews...is a new project designed to help fellow clergy and laity get to know pastors in a slightly different way. Thanks to Rev. Dr. Pam Rowley and Rev. Scott Sharp for being such good sports. Sacramento was a beautiful location. If you have a pastor that you are interested in knowing more about, let us know. Contact Alli Newsom, Communications Director at [email protected].
What is Fresh Expressions?
Around the world, Christians are stepping out in faith and beginning fresh expressions of church, new or different forms of church for a changing culture.
Each fresh expression of church is unique, and designed for their particular context. They can be rural or suburban, in public spaces, housing projects and college dormitories. Some are aimed at specific groups, ranging from “Messy Church” for families with children to “Amore Groups” led by married couples. There is biker church, cowboy church, church for artists, church at or after work; the sky’s the limit. Each is an adventure in bringing the power of the Gospel to people who might never experience Christian community and the transformational and self-giving love of Jesus.
Four guiding principles tie fresh expressions together. Each one is:
  • Missional – Joining God’s mission by going to those not currently served by any church
  • Contextual – Grounded in the language and culture of the people in and for their particular context
  • Formational – Focused on discipling people in the way of Jesus
  • Ecclesial – Forming local, tangible Christian communities that are able to step out as church in their own right
