Judicial Council Hearing - October 23rd in Switzerland
The United Methodist Judicial Council will partner with United Methodist Communications to livestream oral hearings held during the Council’s fall meeting at the Placid Hotel in Zürich, Switzerland.

The oral hearings of the United Methodist Judicial Council will take place on October 23, beginning at 8:30 a.m. CEST (Central European Summer Time) – which is six hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Time. Hearings will remain available on the website throughout the month to make it convenient to watch despite time zone differences and will also be archived at  www.umc.org/who-we-are/judicial-council-october-2018-webcast .

Pension Staff Plans for Possible Ways Forward
by Heather Hahn, UMNS
Whatever delegates decide at the 2019 General Conference, the denomination’s pension agency wants United Methodist clergy and lay workers to know their accrued benefits aren’t going anywhere.

However,  Wespath Benefits and Investments  is also looking at ways to ensure the benefits’ long-term sustainability.

“Our agency has been around for over 100 years. We’ve gone through world wars. We’ve gone through financial crises,” said Barbara Boigegrain, Wespath’s top executive.

After Step One
Friends in ministry!

It was a joy to connect with you during the Step One Conference last week! May God continue to stir your heart with new dreams, to inform your mind with new strategies, and to surround you with partners for your unique ministry calling and context.

It is all too common to return from valuable continuing ed events such as Step One, only to get wrapped up in the tyranny of the urgent rather than attending to God’s Kingdom work. Be sure to follow through with the Holy Spirit’s nudging by talking with friends and colleagues about your vision. We all need support and accountability if we are to bring new faith groups and communities to life. We hope that you took advantage of the offer of one-month of free coaching. If not, you can always contact one of our Conference coaches who can work with you in person, over the phone or online. Click for list of coaches.

God believes in you. We believe in you. Dare to take your next step in hearing and answering God’s call.
