GET READY FOR CAM

by Rev. Dr. Tony Clark, Conference Minister

Hi Folks!

Our Conference Annual Meeting is right around the corner! The Conference Annual Meeting is a time to regather, reconnect, and recenter ourselves in our covenant as members of the Conference. It is a time to unite around our shared values that hold us together in covenant. It is a time to hear from our national staff about trends across our beloved UCC and to find ourselves as an important voice in the UCC.

Comfort Inn University hotel reservation is quickly reaching its early deadline of Tues Sept 2nd. There are also home stays available with sign up on the registration site. Registration for CAM is also nearing its deadline of Sept 16.

I am excited for our Oct 3-5 Annual Meeting in Missoula. Our theme is “Change. Adapt. Move.” Corresponding to this theme, we picked three scriptures: Romans 12: 1-2 (MSG) “fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out”, II Corinthians 5:17 (NET) “So then, if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation; what is old has passed away—look, what is new has come!”, and James 1:22 (GNT) “Do not deceive yourselves by just listening to God’s word; instead, put it into practice.” We have lined up three speakers from our national ministries: Rev. Dr. Karen Georgia Thompson, the UCC General Minister and President; Rev. Dr. Sarah Lund, UCC Minister for Mental Health and Disabilities Ministry; and Rev. James Fouther, Western Region Generosity Officer. Our keynoter for the banquet will be Dr. Damian Chase-Begay.

We also have important business to discuss as a Conference, including new Conference initiatives that the Board of Directors and other leaders across the Conference are excited to share with you as well as a budget that highlights these priorities and our shift in focus toward congregational health and clergy support. We will elect new officers, celebrate Outdoor Ministries, and recognize milestones for clergy and congregations. Those of us who went to General Synod this summer will give a report, including take-aways from the STAR Coalition resolution.

I hope you can attend in person or on-line. I look forward to seeing you there!

Peace,

Pastor Tony
