General Assembly races to watch on Election Day

While much of the nation’s attention is focused on the presidential race ahead of Election Day on Nov. 5, most Kentucky General Assembly seats are on the ballot this year as well.


House representatives are elected every two years and senators serve four-year terms. Senate elections are staggered, and this year seats representing odd-numbered districts will be decided.

Clemons running for KACo 2nd VP

Grant County Clerk Tabatha Clemons is running for 2nd vice president of KACo.


She was elected to her third term as county clerk in 2022 and is the current president of the Kentucky County Clerks Association (KCCA). Clemons has been involved with KACo for several years, serving on the boards of both the KACo Leasing Trust (CoLT) and the KACo Finance Corporation, in addition to serving as the legislative liaison for KCCA.

Winners announced for 2024 I Love My KY County Art Contest

After receiving nearly 600 entries from students all across the state, KACo is pleased to announce the winners of the 2024 I Love My Ky County Art Contest. 


  • 1st Place - Ariana Johnson, Perry County


  • 2nd Place - Layla Scoggins, Graves County


  • 3rd Place - Cam Hiter, Washington County


The winning student artists will be recognized at the 50th Annual KACo Conference and featured in the upcoming issue of County Line magazine as well as the 2025 KACo calendar.

Operation Green Light for Veterans Day

America’s counties have a long and proud history of serving our nation’s veterans, a legacy that continues to this day as we work with our federal, state and local partners to ensure that the former service members have access to the resources they need to thrive.  


Once again this Veterans Day, the National Association of Counties (NACo) invites counties to join Operation Green Light and show support for veterans by lighting buildings green from Nov. 4-11, 2024. By shining a green light, county governments and our residents will let veterans know that they are seen, appreciated and supported.

KACo's Shellie Hampton spoke at the BRADD Board of Directors meeting this week.

Students from Ockerman Middle School completed a tour of the Boone County's Sheriff’s Office.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office hosted the third night of its Citizens Academy recently.
