Redwood City Public Library is delighted to announce the graduation of three exceptional students from Career Online High School: Genelly Medina, Heide Quezadas Pinto and Shayla Melendez. With their achievements, the Library has proudly supported a total of 17 graduates in earning their high school diplomas.
In partnership with the California State Library and with the generous support from the Redwood City Library Foundation, the Career Online High School program offers adults in the community the opportunity to earn a fully accredited high school diploma—free of charge. Students receive guidance from an online Academic Coach and in person tutoring by Project READ staff.
Earning a diploma as an adult is a significant milestone. Genelly expressed she is “so happy I can finally say I did this! I am looking forward to continuing my education, going to college and getting a career.” She plans to complete a medical assistance program through Job Train and work in the medical field.
Heide was inspired to complete the program by her older sister who graduated last year. She is now seeking a job in a bakery.
Shayla was extremely motivated to complete the program and finished in just 3 months. She intends to become a travel nurse and will enroll in a Medical Assistance programs as her next step.
We are incredibly proud of all our graduates; their hard work and perseverance have paid off. The Library has additional scholarships available for those interested. If you know an adult in the community who could benefit from this valuable program, please contact Project READ staff at (650) 780-7077 or by email to rclread@redwoodcity.org .
