Bob Leitner & Cindy Mann To Receive Professional Certification at UMC Annual Conference

This weekend the 2017, LA. Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will confer upon Bob Leitner and Cindy Mann the status of Professional Certification in Spiritual Formation with approval of United Methodist General Board of Higher Education and Ministry. Their seminary training equipped them for ministry in:
  • The regular practice of spiritual disciplines in daily life
  • The ability to teach others diverse spiritual practices and disciplines
  • The understanding of and engagement in the essential link between spiritual formation and congregational life
  • The knowledge of and the ability to teach history and practices of Wesleyan spirituality
  • The ability to lead retreats with persons of varying ages
  • The ability to offer spiritual direction, both one-to-one and/or in-group modes

Congratulations Bob and Cindy! We know your hard work will be put into the Lord's service and be a blessing to our church and community.

How You Can Help Revive225, Urban Home Repair Ministry

Revive225 is in the midst of 10 consecutive weeks of hosting youth groups from  across the country! Crews will perform various home repair tasks, with an  emphasis on flood relief efforts. This ministry is not possible without your help!  Contact Alex Byo at [email protected] to help serve dinners, prepare the  facility for incoming groups, serve as a site leader, and other opportunities.


Volunteers to Serve Meals to Visiting Volunteer Groups:
Time Commitment: 5:30-7:00 PM at FUMC.  Volunteers needed to help set-up and serve dinner, and also clean-up afterwards. No cooking involved!

Cook Meals for Volunteer Groups:
Time Commitment: Sunday nights, from 4:30-6:15 PM at FUMC.  All food is provided! Volunteers needed to set-up, cook burgers and fries and clean-up after dinner .

Cook Meals for Volunteer Groups:
Time Commitment: Thursday nights, from 4:30-7:15 PM at Hope Community UMC.  All food is provided!  Volunteers needed to set-up, boil crawfish or fry catfish (whichever is in season)  and clean up after dinner on Thursday night.

Site Leaders:
Time Commitment: As much or as little as you can spare! If you can help out half a day, a whole day, or take the morning shift- we need you.  Volunteers needed to oversee work being done by volunteer groups at sites around Baton Rouge. Skilled and unskilled volunteers welcome. 

Kitchen/Cafeteria Help:
Time Commitment: Daily, 30-45 minutes at FUMC. Any day of the week, we will work around your schedule.  Volunteer needed to clean the second story Youth Building kitchen, inventory food items, utensils, possible trips to Sam's to purchase supplies.

  • Provide snacks or drinks for our awesome volunteers: sign-up HERE.
  • Create 6 foot paper chains. All materials are available outside Sirena's office, Room 205, 2nd floor of the Chapel Building (take the stairs by the vending machines) and return them by June 14. They look like this, alternating red, yellow, blue: (see photo above.)

Mission Lunch benefits the Louisiana Methodist Children's Home. Menu:  meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, roll, and a cookie. Eatin/ take-out ($7).  Salsa Sale supporting the LA Methodist Children's Home.  Recycle Sunday. Drop-off recycled materials in the gymnasium.
