Costa Boys Soccer finishes Bay League with a perfect record of 10-0-0!
Last night Costa beat Redondo in a thriller! Down 3-2, the team scored twice in the last 4 minutes to win 4-3. Josh Gaudiano got the game winner with 2 minutes left on an assist from Dillan Argue. Josh scored the first goal also. Dillan had a goal and 2 assists to lead Costa in the comeback. Ian scored the tying goal. Zachary Cochran played great in goal. Defender George Boll had a great game and was the extra inspiration that Costa needed.
Costa Boys Soccer finished the Bay League with a perfect record of 10-0-0 and an undefeated overall record of 18-0-3. The CIF D1 playoffs start next week. The bracket comes out this Saturday, Feb. 2nd. Go Costa!

Costa Girls Soccer takes 1st place in Bay League!

Last night the Girls Soccer program honored their seniors on their Bay League game vs. Redondo after a very impressive season. The seniors received flowers and took to the field for their final game before CIF begins next week.  Although they had beaten Redondo in the first round of Bay League, they lost on Wednesday with a score of 2-1. Redondo scored in the first half, and Costa answered back with a goal by Ava Van’t Hof. Unfortunately, Redondo scored with approximately 4 minutes remaining in the game, and although Costa had some close shots, they were unable to tie the game. They still remain Bay League Champions with a winning record of 11-0-1. The CIF schedule will be released this weekend, and they anticipate a home game for the first round. Go Costa!

Girls Water Polo are Bay League Champions!

The Girls Water Polo team had a demanding schedule with 2 tournaments over 2 weekends, and league games during the week. The ladies fought to wins for 9 of the 12 games, defeating all of their division teams. Varsity remains undefeated in the Bay League, 9-1 in their division, and 16-9 overall. Junior Varsity is 8-6-1 and FS 4-3.
The final game against Redondo on Tuesday was a nail biter right to the end. Both teams played strong defense and aggressive offense, keeping the score close and the fans on their feet. Costa came into the final quarter down 4-6 (Costa goals by Celeste Almendariz, Camille Lyter, Charlee Wickemeyer, and Maiken Pardon.), but the Costa women dominated the end of the game with goals by Dylan Reed, Leigh Lyter, and another goal by Dylan Reed to tie the game. The go-ahead goal was scored by Celeste Almendariz.
Upcoming – Varsity and JV play at home against Pen on Thursday and CIF
playoffs start next week.

Costa Surf team dominates
early in the season!
MCHS Surf continues to dominate and is currently 3-0 in head to head competition. They had an excellent team effort vs PV in December, with a final score of 88-59.  Costa Surf continues to consistently dominate due to the depth of the team. They are looking forward to the upcoming team challenge, which was re-scheduled due to the rain over the past few weeks. The team continues to meet every morning at 26th St Manhattan Beach to work on heats and strategies. What a dedicated bunch of kids.
Remember to support MCHS Surf and purchase a discount card. It is good for a year’s worth of savings at many local merchants and is $20 per card.
