Welcome Eileen Horan to the Marriage in Christ Executive Board
We are delighted to introduce a new member of the Marriage in Christ Executive Board! But first, some background.

Joel Kibler, an Executive Board member who is also one of the principal authors of the Marriage in Christ seminar materials, has retired effective September 2021. Thank you, Joel, for your many years of service. Your input into the content of the Marriage in Christ seminar, your leadership in producing the Spanish translation of the seminar, and your literary and theological guidance have been a tremendous gift to our ministry.

The Marriage in Christ Executive Board has asked Eileen Horan to fill Joel's position--and Eileen has said yes!

Eileen has been involved with Marriage in Christ from its beginning in 2010. She has helped in a variety of ways, including as a discussion leader, as organizer of large events like the 2015 Training Seminar, and as a staff volunteer. Eileen and her husband Jim have been financial partners with Marriage in Christ since its earliest inception.

Eileen brings with her many years of experience and wisdom; she is a wife of 33 years, a mother, and a teacher. She will be an invaluable asset to Marriage in Christ.
We have received a generous donation and a challenge. The challenge is to join our anonymous donor in funding the mission of MIC by raising $50,000.

We have chosen Wednesday, November 17th, as "Give to Marriage in Christ Day."

As part of this donation plea, we will be calling and emailing our alumni to alert you to the work we have been accomplishing, and to the work we are hoping to accomplish this fiscal year, and to humbly ask for a donation. Watch for an email on Monday, November 15th that will include donation details.

PS: You do not need to wait until November 17th to donate. All donations from today until November 17th will count as part of this campaign.

Please join us in prayer as we ask the Lord to prosper the work of our hands and for success in our fundraising needs so that we can carry out His work in strengthening marriages and changing our world.
Coming soon! Advent meditations will be available in late November on our website and in the December newsletter. If you would like us to email the Advent meditations directly to you, click the link below to be placed on the electronic email list.

Introduction to Ezekiel

The goal, as usual, is to encounter the Lord as we read Scripture. It is also to let it change us, train us, and correct us. We will examine some of the key images in Ezekiel and see how they find their fulfillment in the life of Jesus. Since this is our story too, we will try to imagine where we ourselves fit, and what kind of impact these Scriptures will have on our own marriage and family. With all that in mind, we have chosen a few passages to read and pray with as married couples.

Blessings,
Bill Wacker

Conversation Starters and Loving Actions for you!
Have you ever seen a spectacular rainbow? Can you describe it?

With your eyes closed, describe your love for your spouse to him or her.

Have you ever seen someone's face or silhouette in a piece of toast or other food item?

Do you long for God?

Have you ever granted someone mercy before they asked forgiveness?

What image would you use to describe your life with your spouse?

What does it mean to be captivated by someone?

How do we as a couple treat the poor and lonely of our community?

How does our marriage relationship reflect the splendor of the Lord?

Where have you seen the Holy Spirit at work this day, week, or month?

Are you in need of a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit in your marriage, family, or personal life? "Come upon us, Holy Spirit. Bring us new life in you."

Make up lunch bags of nonperishable food to donate to a shelter or to someone begging on the street.

Make two pumpkin pies together and share one with another couple, a family, or someone living alone.

Read a book together and take turns reading out loud to each other. Use different voices if appropriate.

Learn a new board game or card game together.

Play tourist in your town. Take a whole day or afternoon and stroll through downtown, visit a museum, or take a tour of old churches or barns in your area.

Create a special day other than your anniversary, engagement, or first date. Try "eat dinner without utensils day," "wear fun socks day," or "deviled egg day."

Count how many times you can use the word "beautiful" in one day.

Come, Holy Spirit, inspire our hearts; inspire couples to desire your presence in their life, marriage, & family. Draw them to you. May we be a vehicle to reveal you to them.
