Congratulations, Dr. Rechel Anderson and Bethany McBride Gray!

We would like to congratulate our very own, Superintendent, Dr. Rechel Anderson!

Dr. Anderson is now a published author.

She has written her first book entitled Professional Walk: An Educator's Perspective.

In Professional Walk: An Educator’s Perspective, Dr. Rechel Anderson shares her journey to Superintendent. She draws back the curtain to share the transparent nature of K-12 education and her road to success within the field. At the core of her experience is her identity as a Black Woman with strong morals and values that has an undeniable passion for exemplary educational environments.

We would also like to applaud Jasper's own Bethany McBride Gray on publishing God's Grace in a Tiny Face: A Miracle the Defied All Odds. This book tells the story of a young family and their NICU journey and is written from the eyes of a four-year-old little boy whose sister was born weighing 1 pound 7 ounces. This story was written to bring comfort and encouragement to the siblings of preemies all around the world.

Ms. Gray is the Director of STEM for JCSD.

Attendance Matters

Jasper County School District values education. It is extremely important that we work collaboratively to improve the education outcomes in our district and for our students; your child(ren).

Attendance in school is a key component to a child’s success. In fact, children who attend school daily experience more success. While coming to school on a consistent basis is important, it is also advantageous for students to remain in school for the full day.

We have been monitoring student attendance and early sign-outs. The data revealed that there are several students who have exceeded the number of days permitted to miss from school and are now being considered for chronic absenteeism. In addition, there are several students who have been flagged as ‘habitual early release’ students. These are students who are being signed out of school daily before dismissal.

As we work to improve attendance to ensure that students are receiving the instruction that is needed to be academically successful, School Leaders and Student Services will be contacting parents who have children that fall into one or both above categories mentioned. The necessary steps and support will be afforded to students to ensure success and accountability.

The chart below illustrates the importance of attendance. As you review the chart, let’s join together to ensure that every student is in school daily and remains in school for the full day of instruction. It takes all of us to improve our schools in Jasper County School District, and the academic outcomes for students.

District Issued Technology Device Usage

As a district, we have worked diligently to ensure that every student has a technology device; regardless of whether the technology fee was paid or not paid.

A district issued technology device is a privilege and is a necessity as it relates to completing the necessary (a) Online Academic Intervention Programs, (b) Accelerated Reader, (c) Instructional Student Engagement Activities, (d) and other assigned activities.

Despite our best efforts, we are continuing to experience students who (1) are not bringing their device to school daily, (2) devices are not being properly cared for and are damaged, (3) inappropriate sites are being downloaded, and (4) late night or early morning use on inappropriate sites.

Internet Safety is of importance to Jasper County School District. It is important that students understand that all technology devices are the property of Jasper County School District.
