Leadership Harrisburg Area is pleased to present the 2026 Platinum Award for Servant Leadership to Dr. Scott Hancock, Associate Professor of History and Africana Studies at Gettysburg College. Since 2020, Dr. Hancock has led a monuments tour at Gettysburg National Park for 7 classes of the Community Leadership Series. But he’s not a traditional tour guide wearing the distinctive blue & gray uniform. Dr. Hancock meets us on bicycle and stops with our groups at several monuments asking how they make us feel; what circumstances can we imagine surrounding them; who they are celebrating; and who’s missing from recognition at Gettysburg National Park. His goal has always been to give class members something to think about, and he has done just that with over 300 participants. For his extraordinary service, embodiment of servant leadership, and unique contributions to Leadership Harrisburg Area’s programming, Scott is so deserving of this high honor!
