TEEN CERT GRADUATING CLASS!
On Sunday, July 20, 2025, the Central County Fire Department (CCFD) proudly hosted the graduation of our first-ever Teen CERT Boot Camp, with 20 youth participants successfully completing the program.
Over the course of two action-packed days, teens from Burlingame, Hillsborough, Millbrae, and San Bruno rotated through numerous hands-on emergency preparedness skill stations:
- Fire Safety & Utility Control
- Cribbing
- Disaster Medical Operations
- Light Search & Rescue
- Communications
During lunch, our talented volunteer moulage artists transformed adult volunteers into “injured survivors” with realistic wounds—ranging from minor to life-threatening—preparing for the culminating rescue simulation. This time, the youth had the chance to save the adults!
After the final exercise, all participants gathered for a debrief and graduation ceremony. We were honored to be joined by Council Members from Burlingame, Hillsborough, and Millbrae, who personally congratulated our young graduates and thanked them for rising to the challenge of becoming leaders in their communities.
Thank you to each and every Teen CERT participant for your time, enthusiasm, and commitment. As official CCFD Teen CERT members, we look forward to welcoming you back as Disaster Service Workers when you turn 18—to join us in making our communities stronger and more resilient in times of need.
