Message from our Executive Director

One of our biggest goals as a foundation this year was to raise the remaining funds needed to complete the three Future Centers and celebrate by hosting a grand opening for each site. I'm so proud to say through the hard work and dedication of our staff and Board of Directors, along with our incredibly generous donors, together we accomplished our goal!
We've had many positive reactions about the Future Centers from students, staff, and parents, however, one reaction particularly stands out in my mind. I was dropping off some clothes for the Career Closet at one of the sites and a student walked through the door. He stopped in his tracks and looked at me as if he shouldn't have stepped inside. I of course welcomed him in and he gently walked inside a few steps then stopped again. He said, "WHOA! What happened in here? Who is this new room for?!" I said, "It's for YOU and your peers." He looked at me with a stunned expression. "Me?" he asked. I proceeded to explain what the Future Center is and the services provided. He still looked confused and then asked who paid for it. I explained that generous people in the community who believe in students like him and want him to succeed donated to make the Future Centers a reality. This young man couldn't believe that a space like this was for him and that people he didn't know donated money to make it a reality. The look on his face said it all and literally brought a tear to my eyes. The true power of philanthropy.
Our Future Center logo, the compass, signifies the importance of each student developing their own personal compass to gain a sense of direction after high school. Nothing is more gratifying than knowing how many lives will be impacted through the years within the walls of our Future Centers. THANK YOU to our supporters for believing in the futures of our students!
As we end this 2021-22 school year, we'd like to congratulate our graduating TSMP Ambassadors and the Class of 2022! YOUR FUTURE IS PROMISING!

Each of these young leaders has played an integral role in the growth and development of our foundation. They were our eyes, ears, and voices at each campus and we could not have done the work we did this year without their passion and dedication!

Future Center Grand Openings
|
|
Last month we were proud to open the last two Future Centers at Mission Hills and Twin Oaks High Schools. As we look to the future and how we are preparing students to follow passions and make an impact on our community and the world, our Future Centers are here as a trusted space to provide students with the tools and resources they need to successfully launch their futures. Services include self-discovery, career exploration, applying for college and other post-secondary institutions (such as apprenticeship programs and trade schools), financial aid and scholarship information and application assistance, resume preparation, Virtual Reality tours of employers and college campuses and so much more.
Our exceptional team of High School Education Coordinators, Counselors, and well-trained staff provide our students the chance to draw up the blueprint for what’s next in their lives. We accomplish this in a comfortable setting, designed by students for students.
The 3 Future Centers are located at each of the San Marcos High Schools, all with the look and feel of exhilarating next steps… sharing visions of success, and strategically, systematically making possibilities a reality.
We invite anyone interested in visiting any of our Future Centers to see first-hand the power of transformation in progress. We are so excited to improve the lives of our students, their families, and our workforce, that we want to get YOU involved too!

Spring 2022 - Future Fair
|
|
Another successful Future Fair is in the books. Our 2-day, 3-event Future Fair was filled with wonderful resources for our students! The event kicked off on the first night with 3 virtual career panels. Professionals from various industries shared insightful information about their careers. Please visit our website to watch the recordings. The following day featured our Networking Hour and Future Fair.
Mark your calendars- next year's Future Fair will be on November 3rd at San Marcos High School.

|
We were so happy to be able to host the Annual Future Fair in person again this year. Students and their families were invited to attend the large expo to learn about the various options for life after high school. Local professionals educated students about their careers and the potential career opportunities within their industry. Colleges and Universities were also on hand to share the opportunities that exist at each of their campuses. Thank you to all who attended and participated.

Networking leads to opportunities, so it's crucial for students to learn these skills from professionals before graduating from high school. We are so proud to have offered this opportunity for SMUSD 11th and 12th grade students. The professionals who volunteered helped students learn and refine valuable skills such as active listening, public speaking, nonverbal communication, and more. Thank you to all of the students and professionals who participated.
