A Note From Our President

May was a busy month for the Foundation of HOPE and June has not slowed down. We are well into June and Summer is here! Our Spring cohort has graduated the Economic Development & Empowerment program and are enjoying their much-deserved summer break.

We are happy to celebrate three seniors who are 2026 graduates and completed our program as sixth graders at Easton Middle School. Congratulations to them on their new beginning.

I had the opportunity to be the commencement speaker at Chesapeake College. I am reminded of some of the words that resonate with me and I will share with you. "The world isn’t simply waiting—it’s moving, changing and sometimes resisting. What matters most is not whether the path ahead is smooth, but whether we are prepared to adapt. We all must continue learning and move forward with purpose even when things feel uncertain."

Together, we are moving forward to build a community built on the foundation of hope that provides connection and belonging for young women. With your support, we can make a difference and be the change we want to see in the world. Thank you for transforming lives, one girl at a time.

God Bless You,

Keasha Haythe, CEcD

Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.

Congratulations Class of 2026!

On June 17th, our 9th cohort graduated from the Economic Development and Empowerment Program. After completing the 16-week intensive course, each student presented her capstone project - a personal vision board - to family and fellow participants. The girls shared a wide range of career goals, including athletics, the arts, cosmetology, medicine, and research. Many hoped to explore new destinations throughout the world, and home and family topped the list of important ambitions.

After their presentations, each student was presented with a certificate of completion. This year, 26 6th grade girls from Easton Middle School and St. Michaels Middle High School completed our program - the largest class in the history of the Foundation of HOPE! We are incredibly proud of these young women, and know they will go on to accomplish great things! We will continue to follow them throughout their academic careers as they work towards making their vision boards reality.

We hope you'll take a few moments to watch a video recap of this momentous event below!

Celebrating Our Success!

Many of our 2026 cohort graduates headed to Hershey Park on June 20th to celebrate completing the Economic Development and Empowerment Program. The trip was a blast! The girls enjoyed the sunny weather and tons of fun with friends, and kicked summer off in style!

More Graduation Jubilation!

We are now in the 9th year of our program, and we have the pleasure of watching our girls become bright, driven young women and move through their academic careers on their paths to success! This year, three of our Covid-era students - pictured below at their Foundation of HOPE graduation ceremony - completed the major milestone of graduating high school! Congratulations to My’A Johnson, Destiny Strawberry, and Jurnee Jones!

Keasha had the honor of acting as the commencement speaker at the Chesapeake College graduation, where she had the extra honor of seeing Foundation of HOPE graduate and scholarship recipient, Kaleigh Hammond, graduate. Kaleigh is an extraordinary young woman, working at Critchlow Adkins Children’s Centers - where she was once a student - throughout her time in school.

We also want to send a very special congratulations to Board Member Olivia Brice, who graduated from USC Rossier with her Doctorate of Education. Our girls are incredibly fortunate to have amazing role models like Olivia to teach them to never stop learning, growing, and reaching for their dreams!
