The Steamboat Girls High School Tennis Team travelled to Grand Junction this week where they played teams from all over the region. Our Sailors fought hard and should be very proud as the Regional Runner-Up in the 2025 Colorado State Class 3A Tournament behind Vail Christian. Steamboat's Line 2 Doubles Team WON First Place - congratulations to Lyla Baker and Leslie Jimenez! Other team member results include the following:

• Line 1 Singles Lucia del Haya - 3rd Place
• Line 2 Singles Abby del Haya - 2nd Place
• Line 2 Doubles Vanessa Dorr and Taylor Rockford - 2nd Place
• Line 4 Doubles Sammy Richman and Aleida Richter - 4th Place

Congratulations to the entire team, including Line 2 Singles Dylan Quinn who was unable to play due to injury and Line 3 Doubles Emily Lopez and Elsa Damore who played well against tough opponents. Many thanks to the awesome coaches Jason Scicchitano, Bill Krueger, James Mac and Karen Connell. Lyla Baker, Leslie Jimenez, Abby del Haya, Vanessa Dorr and Taylor Rockford will all go to the State Tournament. Go Sailors!

The Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Complex is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the 2025 Rocky Mountain Pickleball Championships, “Mountain Town Classic,” presented by The Picklr – and hosted by Kyle Yates, a top-ranked pickleball professional and a 2024 inductee into the Pickleball Hall of Fame.

The three-day summer tournament takes place in Steamboat July 25, 26 and 27, and is one of three stops on the Rocky Mountain Pickleball Championship Series circuit, including Denver, June 18-22 and Grand Junction, September 12-14. A $9,000 prize pool for the open division will be offered!

In advance of the Mountain Town Classic, Jayson Harris, Director of Pickleball and Dustin Spalding, Head Pickleball Professional, Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Complex, will host a 6-week Tournament Doubles Strategy Course running Fridays from May 9 to June 13, 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM at the Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Complex. Each session includes 30 minutes of focused drilling followed by 60 minutes of coached gameplay, all designed to sharpen your shot selection, positioning, and decision-making under pressure. Perfect for teams looking to elevate their tournament performance and prepare for the Rocky Mountain Championships. Spots are limited—sign up here.

Steamboat Pickleball enthusiasts will not just be limited to play at the Mountain Town Classic in Steamboat but are encouraged to participate in the additional stops of the The Rocky Mountain Pickleball Championships tour, including Denver June 18–22, followed by Grand Junction, in September.

The Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Complex will represent Steamboat with a sponsor tent at the Denver tournament for Steamboat players to relax at, refuel, and cheer each other on, followed by a complimentary Happy Hour

June 21 at 3PM for the Steamboat crew to kick back and connect off the court.

The Center Court SMASH, held at Flying Diamond Ranch on Tuesday, July 29, is a facility-wide benefit to fundraise for the Steamboat Tennis and Pickleball Complex's multiple fundraising initiatives, including renovating the Tennis Center, reducing the $5M loan on the Pickleball Center, and underwriting programs for youth and nonprofits.
