Strawberry Festival
Survives the Rain & Cold
Despite the wet and cold weather, the Strawberry Festival was a success for our church and our crafters alike. Though we didn’t have the crowds from previous years, the flow of traffic was steady throughout the day.
Strawberry Shortcake was definitely the draw. Starting at 9 am to the end of the day there was never a lull in the line to buy this delicious treat. In the end, we netted about $4000, plus an additional $339 in LED light sales!
We did receive three significant donations. Hannaford donated 60 pounds of fresh
strawberries, Bill Cheney secured free whipped cream from Hood where he used to
work, and Bean Town donated 2 large containers of coffee.
Thanks to all who made this day possible, from those who helped set up and break
down and manned the tables, to those who baked, donated raffle items and plants.
A special thanks to Dave Chin who coordinated the children’s area, Teri Malcolm the
bake table, Kari Allard the plants, Linda Tilden the raffle table, Andy Wallack and Chris
McCune the grills, Brad Robie, the Capital Campaign table, Ellen McCune the strawberry
shortcake (and everything else,) and Barbara Wallack the crafters.
It was a lot of work made easier and possible by the multitude of helping hands.
It was also a lot of fun.

Congratulations Graduates
We congratulate all of our graduates on a job well done, and wish them all the best in their next endeavors.
Brendan Mulhall earned his Master's in Wildlife Ecology from Texas State University.
Bridget Mulhall earned her Bachelor's in Sociology from the University of Tampa.
William McGaffigan graduated from Royal Academy. He will be attending North Bennett
Street School in Boston this fall to study furniture making.
Connor West is graduating from Salem, NH High School.

Pastor Kathy recently visited our most senior congregant, Ginny Duston, who turns 101 this July. Ginny sends her greetings. She enjoys watching the birds, walking in her yard, and reminiscing about the many years she's been a part of HCC and the town of Hampstead. | |

Free Plants
There are a number of plants left over from the plant table at last week's Strawberry Festival. They are available to anyone who would like one, and are located next to the Hadley Hall entrance.

"Tattoos on the Heart" Movie
Open to All
On Thursday, June 22nd at 10am we will be showing "G-Dog", a documentary about Father Greg Boyle's incredible journey as he develops and launches the most successful gang intervention and rehab program in the US. Our book group has been enjoying learning about Father Greg (known as G-Dog) and his work with Homeboy Industries.

Outdoor Worship
Sunday, June 25th
We will be resuming our much-loved outdoor worship services!
Outdoor worship will be held at 10am on Sunday, June 25th in the back parking lot. Please plan to bring a chair and join us for this special service. Coffee hour will be held after the service in Hadley Hall.
The service will continue to be live streamed through Facebook and 3CX.

In Memoriam
Denis Currier, a former congregant and long-time Hampstead resident, who was active at HCC in the 1970's-1990s, has died.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 15th at 2pm in the sanctuary, followed by interment at Pine Grove Cemetery. Click here for the link to his obituary.
A luncheon will follow the service and interment. If you are able to help with the luncheon, please let the office know.

A Word from Peace & Justice
The Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire is hosting a week-long celebration of Juneteenth. On their website they describe how The Trail came into existence in Portsmouth and of what the Juneteenth Celebration is all about. At the end is the listing of events.
Dates: June 10, 15, 16, 17, 18 & 19, 2023
The celebration includes a tour, a panel discussion, a Reggae festival, a gospel choir concert, African drumming, and more…

Emails and Texts are often sent, saying they are from Pastor Kathy or another staff member. She (or the HCC staff) will never send out a generic email/text--she'll address it to your name. She will never ask you for money/gift cards over email nor via a text.
Also, any email from Pastor Kathy will always have her signature line on the bottom with her phone number/address.
If in doubt, please contact the church office or Pastor Kathy.

The Sonshine Soup Kitchen needs volunteers to prepare and package the food for "To Go Meals." We partner with Atkinson Congregational Church once a month on the 4th Wednesday of the month to help out from 3-6pm. | | |

Blankets for Project Linus
For those of you who have been busy sewing, quilting, knitting, or crocheting, we have an new opportunity to donate those handmade items!
We located a national organization that has local chapters called Project Linus (https://www.facebook.com/projectlinussouthwestnewhampshire/). This organization's mission is "to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans". Blankets are given to children in need through NH.
*We welcome all styles of blankets made in child-friendly colors/prints.
*Crocheted, knitted, quilted (100% cotton or flannel), fleece….you don’t have to be an expert!
*Blankets must be NEW, HANDMADE and WASHABLE.
*Fabric blankets can be quilted by machine, hand or tied. If you are tying the blanket make sure the ends are trimmed to 1” and the knots are secure.
*Please do not add any embellishments to the blankets such as buttons that could be swallowed by a child.
*If you are using a no-sew fleece pattern, please be sure to trim off both selvages FIRST. Not sure what selvages are? Ask the clerk who is cutting your fleece to please show you, they’re those odd looking edges at the top and bottom of the piece you have, sort of raggy looking.
*We accept all sizes of blankets. We donate to children, infants through teen years, so any size is appropriate. Baby blankets are typically 36”X36” or 36”X42”, toddler-pre-teen are typically about 40”X60”, and teen blankets are at least 60"X72".
Blankets can be dropped off in the entry way of Hadley Hall.
