THE FIRST WEEK IN REVIEW Parents should be very proud of the poise, patience, and perseverance all Stone students showed this week. It hasn't been easy for anyone but the students really SOARed this week. We saw students working hard, sharing their work, listening to their teachers and friends, and learning. The faculty is working to make sure students have a meaningful and productive school year. There have been some surprises but we're learning how to make the most of the technology and solving problems together. Student attendance and engagement has also been excellent. Our attendance rate for the first week was well above 95%.

Virtual Curriculum Nights

Each grade will host a Virtual Curriculum Night. During these meetings we will provide more detailed information on curriculum, class structure, expectations and technology support. It will also give parents and teachers a chance to look back over the start of school and suggest ways to make the learning experience even better. All parents are strongly encouraged to attend. Mark your calendars! A NOTE TO 8TH GRADE FAMILIES FROM MS. BROTMAN Hi 8th grade parents/guardians, I hope everyone has had a smooth start to remote learning this week! As most of you know, the high school application process will begin next month (October 12th), and this year is, of course, different from any other year. I'm hoping you all received the communication from CPS regarding the new criteria and how they will be reviewing your child's scores and grades. Next week, I would like to provide a high school information session to share updates with all of you and give you a chance to ask some general questions. Please join me on September 14th at 7pm, right after the Curriculum Night. I look forward to "seeing" you all then! Please note: I will also be offering individual conferences for parents who would like to meet with me to discuss high school options for their child (stay tuned for more information on these conferences).

Headset Update We only received 82 of 430 headsets (headphones and microphone) we ordered in August. More will be coming but the supply chain is moving very slowly. If you still need a headset for your child, please complete this form so we can prioritize who gets them first. If you are interested in purchasing a headset on your own, please make sure the headset is Chromebook (or iPad for kindergarten) compatible.

Additional Supplies and Family Income Information Form We have received additional school supplies and will begin distributing them next week (the week of September 21st) from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. We apologize for the inconvenience of having to come back to school for missing materials but the supplies were all delivered in separate shipments and the last of the items we ordered just arrived TODAY! While families are stopping by school we also ask parent to complete and return the Family Income Information Sheet. The form is attached here for parents who would like to complete, print, and sign it before coming to school. Additional forms will be available at school. We ask every family to provide this information because federal education funding is based in the data gathered from these forms. All families who complete the form prior to September 23rd will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Target gift card.
