(Brooklyn, NY): Late Tuesday, Democrats Ari Kagan (CD 47) and Justin Brannan (CD 43) emerged victorious in their elections for City Council after their GOP contenders conceded.
“The Brooklyn Democratic Party congratulates Ari Kagan and Justin Brannan on their well-deserved victories,” said Party Chair Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn. “We thank the elected Councilmembers for their hard-fought wins and all the Brooklynites who made their voices heard.”
Councilmember Justin Brannan will continue to represent the City Council’s 43rd District, which encompasses Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, Bath Beach, and parts of Bensonhurst.
Ari Kagan, currently District Leader for the Brooklyn Democratic Party’s 45th AD, will take the helm of 47th Council District, representing the neighborhoods of Bensonhurst, Coney Island, Gravesend, and Sea Gate.
“Southern Brooklyn will continue to thrive under Kagan and Brannan’s capable Democratic leadership,” said Bichotte Hermelyn.
“As a District Leader and founder of the Bay Democrats club, Ari Kagan has a long track record of advocating for his diverse community, and will continue to do so in the City Council.
Justin Brannan has always held true to his promise to ‘fight for the little guy’ and we’re grateful that he’ll keep delivering for his constituents,” concluded Bichotte Hermelyn.
