JUST FOR FUN!

Double my number, I'm less than a score, half of my number is less than four. Add one to my double when bakers are near, days of the week are still greater, I fear.
What am I?

Employers of Excellence
Congratulations to these Lakeville Chamber members who were recognized at the annual Dakota-Scott County Employers of Excellence Awards breakfast yesterday.

Employers who participated in the program completed a 40-question survey covering employee training and development, hiring and retention of employees, benefit plans and more. Award recipients had top rankings in these categories. All are welcome to apply the Chamber will send out the information again next year for those who would like to apply.
We are overwhelmed!
Thank you to the nearly 50 Chamber businesses who donated such great gifts for our new teacher welcome bags this year! Our new teachers will be getting gift cards, travel mugs, phone accessories, notepads, pens, personal care products, bags, stress balls and so much more!

A special thank you to Jennifer Nightingale of Christian Brothers Automotive and Malinda Mehrhoff of Dakota Electric, of our Business in Education Committee, for helping us stuff all of the bags!
As a part of our Lakeville Works initiative, Cindy Nolan (ISD 194 Career Pathways Coordinator), 4 Special Education teachers from North and South and I joined several other educators for a Dakota County Workforce tour on Wednesday. We had discussions and tours at Dakota County Technical College, Rihm Kenworth, Uponor and Fairview Ridges. We learned about career opportunities in a variety of fields and the challenges in recruiting and retaining talent in these industries.

The tour was organized by the Dakota-Scott Workforce Development Board and allowed for learning, conversations and brainstorming about how we can continue to find ways to partner and connect our students to some amazing and rewarding career opportunities.
Really need 4 people!!
You do NOT need to be available the whole time.
They will take whatever they can get.
Next Thursday!

OCTOBER
Hunting Works for Minnesota’s co-chair Bruce Nustad, President of the Minnesota Retailers Association, will be in Lakeville for a presentation on Thursday, October 3 and we hope you can join us from 8:30-9:30 am at the Holiday Inn. Bruce will discuss the many benefits of hunting for our state and for our local Lakeville economy.
First launched in 2010, Hunting Works for Minnesota with their 300+ partners help tell the story how hunting and the shooting sports are good for Minnesota’s economy, heritage and conservation efforts. Minnesota is home to around 500,000 hunters and they give a boost to our state’s economy throughout the hunting season. From buying fuel and snacks at convenience stores, stocking up on groceries for deer camp, eating out at local restaurants, staying overnight at local hotels, shopping at retailers for hunting supplies and everything in between.
