Congratulations to our newest Vestry members! The six candidates chosen by the parish are Mary Ann Blankenship, Brad Davenport, Mike Hale, Terry Hathaway, Clay Hilbert and David Lewis.
Annual Meeting Recap
Thank you for joining us for our first virtual annual meeting! Held by Zoom, we had more than 90 people in attendance. Due to some technical issues, you might have missed the remarks from our Senior Warden, Thomas Ewers. You can read his remarks or watch his video on our YouTube channel. We all enjoyed hearing beautiful music from our organ; see and hear Dr. Elizabeth Melcher Davis at these links.
Cooking with Clergy: Food and Feasts of Jesus
Tonight’s Zoom call will begin at 6:00 p.m. You are welcome to join whenever you are able. We will be sharing our bread making experience, talking about Deuteronomy 8:7-10 and talking about communion as a sacrament.

Bible Study via Zoom on Wednesdays during Lent
We will continue to offer a Bible Study as a spiritual practice during Lent. The group will be studying selected psalms, and will meet by zoom Wednesday evenings starting tonight, February 24, and ending on March 24the week before Holy Week. If you are interested in joining the group, please contact Mary Ann Blankenship or Beth McClelland.
Morning Prayer and Compline via Zoom
During Lent we are inviting folks to pray together at the beginning and at the close of day. This is a lay led initiative and you can sign up to lead prayers here.

During each time of prayer there will be time for silence, song and common prayer.
If you want to attend you can use this Zoom link for Morning Prayer at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesdays or this Zoom link for Compline at 8:00 p.m.
Flat Grace is on the Move - Sign Up for a Visit Today
During Lent this year parish families are getting visits from Flat Grace, a little angel learning to pray. Grace visits somewhere new each week with her journal to spend time with your family and learn a prayer you like to pray together. If you take a picture or two with her throughout the week to share too, that’s all the better! There’s still time to sign up for a visit from Grace here, so be sure to get on her schedule today.
COVID Call Team
Last week 20 members of the GHTC congregation were invited into an intentional ministry effort to reach out to members of the congregation. Mother Kim has been keeping a list of folks who are in need of pastoral care or attention over the past year and this list consists of individuals who are in need for various reasons. If you receive a call from a member of the call team please be aware that they are reaching out to you on behalf of the church. If you have any questions or concerns about this ministry you can contact Mo. Kim via her cell phone or email.
Benefits of Mindfulness
Mindfulness is a process that leads to a mental state of nonjudgmental awareness of the present experience, such as sensations, thoughts, bodily sensations, and our environment. It enables us to distance ourselves from our thoughts and feelings without labeling them as good or bad. Mindfulness can be a particularly helpful tool when we face anxiety - which has arisen so much for so many over the last year - as it directs us to focus on the present moment and how we might take meaningful action to live according to what we value.

Check out this brief video that introduces why mindfulness can be so powerful in helping us see our thoughts and feelings as they are beginning, not after we have gotten overwhelmed by them. With mindfulness, we can choose what we will strengthen and bring into action, as well as what we can gently let go of.
Red Door Ministry Wish List
On the last Wednesday of each month, we will publish a wish list for our Red Door guests. We will do this once a month. During Covid-19 our clothing closet is much reduced, but we have specific needs for clothing needs in order to have work uniforms, for example.

If you are able to purchase any of these items, or if you have them in your closet, please contact VCU social work intern, Mattison Payne.
Samples from Sunday
This week’s “Samples from Sunday” is the virtual choir offering of “I Choose Love” by Mark A. Miller presented by the choirs from Grace & Holy Trinity Episcopal and Ginter Park Presbyterian Churches, Abigail Stinnett (soloist), and Douglas Brown (editor and accompanist). This lovely piece was written for Emmanuel AME Church, Charleston, SC. It was presented in our online worship service on February 21. There were 32 singers total including 18 choir members from Grace & Holy Trinity and 14 choir members from Ginter Park Presbyterian Church. Thanks to the choirs, Abigail, and Douglas for sharing their musical gifts with us! Be sure to subscribe to the GHTC Music Channel on YouTube to be notified of new videos as they are posted.
