YPIE Newsletter: June 2020

Dear YPIE Family,

As the school year comes to an end, we look in awe at our students. They inspire us during “normal” times with their ability to overcome so many adversities; to see how they have responded to the world over the last few months has been nothing short of awe-some.

While we continue to grapple with the impact of COVID on our students and their families, and stand up against systemic racism in education and across our society, we pause to highlight some good news about what our students have been able to achieve this year.

We’re proud to share the colleges our students have worked so hard to attend, to amplify their voices on issues of racism in society, and to spotlight how they are setting high expectations for themselves through rigorous science research. We also highlight our volunteers who have chosen to be part of the solution. These bright spots give us hope.

Stay healthy and keep moving forward.

In light of these even more challenging circumstances, we are thrilled to congratulate the YPIE Class of 2024. Their dedication and resilience have inspired us and we are so excited to see how they continue to make a positive impact on our world!

YPIE Regeneron Science Research Symposium

" You are the future of science and we believe you all have the potential to be at the center of solutions for our world's most intractable problems. " Potoula Stavropoulos, Regeneron

More than 150 guests joined us for our first virtual YPIE Regeneron Science Research Symposium!

Our students expertly presented the results of their multi-year, authentic research across many areas, including environmental science, cellular and molecular science, medicine and health, behavioral science, computer science, and more.

See this event recap written by Darius, one of our Science Research Scholars, and images from our students' extremely impressive presentations!
