TORAH PORTION

Va-eira

וָאֵרָא

I (God) Appeared

[to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob]

God spoke to Moses and said to him,

"I am the Eternal." - Exodus 6:2

SUMMARY

Despite God's message that they will be redeemed from slavery, the Israelites' spirits remain crushed. God instructs Moses and Aaron to deliver the Israelites from the land of Egypt. (6:2-13)

The genealogy of Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and their descendants is recorded. (6:14-25)

Moses and Aaron perform a miracle with a snake and relate to Pharaoh God's message to let the Israelites leave Egypt. (7:8-13)

The first seven plagues occur. God hardens Pharaoh's heart, and Pharaoh rescinds each offer to let the Israelites go. (7:14-9:35)

Happy New Year from

your CNT Ritual Committee!

We have an exciting year of events planned from weekly Shabbats to Passover Seder to the High Holy Days.

We began our year with the Installation service of our new

Board of Directors followed by an exquisite charcuterie

inspired Oneg. A huge thank you to our outgoing Board

members and a hearty welcome to our new members!

Rabbi Prass is leading Dine and Discuss this Friday at 6:30 pm. Bring your own dinner and join us as we discuss what Judaism has to say about the concept of social justice and our role in Tikkun Olam, repairing the world. There’s always lively and thought-provoking conversation at these quarterly dinners.

March 10th Scout Shabbat returns after a

2-year Covid hiatus. This is always a meaningful event,

as we come together to celebrate Shabbat and welcome

the local Scouting Community to join us.

Passover Seder will be led by Rabbi Prass in April.

The Seder is a wonderful opportunity to join us for a

tasty dinner with traditional Passover fare and connect

with fellow members and neighbors.

We will have more updates on future events in the Chai Lights, but don’t forget, we offer a weekly opportunity to spiritually recharge and schmooze with friends at Shabbat services.

We’d love to see you there! - The Ritual Committee
