TORAH PORTION
Balak Balak
Numbers 22:2−25:9
Balak son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.
- Numbers 22:2
SUMMARY:
- Balak, the king of Moab, persuades the prophet Balaam to
curse the Israelites so that he can defeat them and drive them out of the region. However, Balaam blesses the Children of Israel instead and prophesies that Israel's enemies will be defeated. (22:2-24:25)
- God punishes the Israelites with a plague for consorting with
the Moabite women and their god. The plague is stayed after Pinchas kills an Israelite man and his Midianite woman. (25:1-9)

Summer is almost over for many of our families. In just 2
weeks, many children from Cobb, Cherokee, Paulding, and
other surrounding counties will be heading back to school. Additionally, the first day of Religious School is August 4.
I would like to thank Bob Huebsch, Johanna Kohler, and Jennifer Seitel for getting things lined up to start religious school. We appreciate them stepping up to lead the religious school this year. Looking forward to seeing all of our returning students in a few weeks.
This weekend, we celebrate the Bat Mitzvah of Lilly Hensley. Please see below for more details on her mitzvah project supporting the Atlanta Children's Shelter. Best wishes to Lilly and her family as they celebrate her becoming a Bat Mitzvah.
We are now just a little over a week away from our Super CNT Weekend. I would like to thank all of the volunteers who have been hard at work preparing for this weekend. We hope all of our members can make one or more of the events over the weekend. It will be a great opportunity to reconnect with fellow members and meet others interested in learning more about CNT. If you are interested in assisting with any of the events, please reach out to the membership committee to let them know. These types of events would not be possible without the assistance from our volunteer members. It takes a village, and CNT is no different. Without our volunteers, many of the events puts on would not be possible. For those in our community who have not joined CNT, we welcome you to come out over Super CNT Weekend to get more information and to check us out.
I also wanted to take a few minutes to announce our new hiking meetups. Most weekends in the fall when religious school is in session, there will be a group meeting at the Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield Visitor Center on Sundays at 9:15 am for a hike on Kennesaw Mountain. For those with Religious School students, this is a great way to spend time while your children are at religious school. Drop them off at school and head over to the Visitor Center to meet other members and those in the community for a nice hike at Kennesaw Mountain. Hope to see everyone there. For more information, please reach out to the membership committee or myself.
Lastly, just a quick reminder, High Holidays are just around the corner. They will begin on September 30 and end on October 10. Look for more info regarding service times, registration, and opportunities to help out in the coming weeks. We hope everyone is able to join us this year.
Brad Seitel,
President

Mitzvah Moments
Lilly Hensley: July 20, 2019
For Lilly's Bat Mitzvah Project, she raised money around the holidays to buy presents for children serviced by the Atlanta Children's Shelter! On her own, she managed to raise $300 which translated to two overflowing shopping carts of gifts
that she picked out and delivered!
