Sh'lach L'cha ... Send [Notables to Scout the Land] Numbers 13:1−15:41

The Eternal One spoke to Moses, saying, "Send emissaries to scout the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelite people; send one man from each of their ancestral tribes, each one a chieftain among them." - Numbers 13:1-2
· Moses sends twelve spies to the Land of Israel to report on the inhabitants and the country. Despite the positive report of Joshua and Caleb, the people are frightened. (13:1-14:10)
 · God threatens to wipe out the Children of Israel but relents when Moses intercedes on their behalf. To punish the people, God announces that all those who left Egypt would not enter the Land of Israel except for Joshua and Caleb. (14:11-45)
 · Moses instructs the Israelites regarding setting aside challah, the observance of the Sabbath, how to treat strangers, and the laws of tzitzit. (15:1-41)

Shabbat Candle Lighti ng  8:30  p m on Friday, June 7, 2018

This week I need to announce that Bob Abrams has decided to
step down from the CNT Board and as Membership chair.
He is having some health issues and does not feel he can continue
to serve effectively.
Bob has been instrumental as a Board member and Membership chair over the past two and a half years. He set up the first every Menorah Lighting in the Marietta Square, which we continue to do every year, bought Membership sponsored picnics, speaker events and new member dinners. He will be missed.
I met with the Membership committee last Sunday. We had a very productive meeting and decided that Johanna Kohler will be the Board liaison for Membership. A chairperson(s) was not selected, but there will be two sub committees.
One subcommittee will be focusing on recruiting new members.
This will include creating a new marketing and branding plan.
This will require input from all other committees. Please help
them with to new ideas to attract people to join us.
The second subcommittee will be focusing on retaining members. This will include creating new programs and planning events, and regularly contacting members, all designed to engage our members. The committee has realized that there are different groups of members and that each group need to be addressed.
We have an at large Board position open. We are still discussing if we will fill it now or wait until the elections at the end of the year.
If anyone is interested in joining the Board now, please e-mail
info@mynertamid.org to be considered.
Membership will be the major focus this year. It will allow us to offer more to our current members and create community that will last.
