TORAH PORTION
Vayak'heil - P'kudei [Moses] Assembled /
 [The] Records [of the Tabernacle]
Exodus 35:1-40:38
These are the records of the Tabernacle, the Tabernacle of the Pact, which were drawn up at Moses' bidding--the work of the Levites under the direction of Ithamar son of Aaron the priest. - Exodus 38:21

Moses then convoked the whole Israelite community and said to them: "These are the things that the Eternal has commanded you to do." - Exodus 35:1

SUMMARY:
  • Moses teaches the rules of Shabbat. (35:1-3)
  • Moses asks the Israelites for a donation of gifts and those who are skilled help build the Mishkan [Tabernacle] under the direction of Bezalel and Oholiab. (35:4-38:20)
  • A statistical summary of the materials used for the Tabernacle and an account of producing the priestly vestments are recorded. Moses blesses the Israelites for the work they did. (38:21-39:42)
  • Upon God's instruction, Moses sets up the Mishkan and the priests are anointed and consecrated. (40:1-33)
  • A description is given of a cloud that covers the Mishkan by day and a fire that burns by night, indicating God's Presence therein. (40:33-38)

 CNT WEEKLY UPDATE

Friday Night Services
We have determined that we will not be holding in-person
Friday night services at this time. Instead, we will be live-streaming our services. We will try this out over the next 2 Fridays (3/20 and 3/27) and if successful will plan on continuing this alternative until we are able to reconvene at the synagogue.
Rabbi Prass and Rob Goldstein will be co-leading the services.  Thank you both for your commitment to trying this out. Some may ask about prayer books. Rabbi and Rob, will be sharing portions of the prayer book as needed throughout the live streamed service.  We encourage everyone to tune in. The link will be available on our website. Additionally, if you have any feedback or recommendations, please let us know.  This will be something new for our congregation but obviously the right thing to do during these times.

Religious School and Hebrew School
As noted last week, religious school and Hebrew school will not be in session until Cobb County Schools have returned to the classroom. We will send out a notification to religious school parents once we are able to reconvene. At our next board meeting, we will be discussing options for doing virtual learning or other options if it looks like we will not be returning after Spring Break. Stay tuned for details to come.
