TORAH PORTION
Deuteronomy 32:1-52
Give ear, O heavens, let me speak; Let the earth hear
the words I utter! -
Deuteronomy 32:1
SUMMARY:
- Moses sings his last song, a love poem to God and a chastisement
of the people, who are not worthy of Adonai. (32:1-6)
- The poem recounts the blessings that God has bestowed on the Israelites, the wicked deeds they have committed, and the punishments that God then inflicted upon them. (32:7-43)
- God tells Moses to begin his ascent of Mount Nebo, from where he will see the Land of Israel from a distance but will not be allowed to enter it. (32:45-52)

Well, 5780 is here. What a great turnout for our High Holiday Services. I wanted to thank Rabbi Prass for leading our High Holiday Services. It was a great few days of reflection and introspection. We appreciate all that he does for our synagogue. In addition to Rabbi Prass, I would like to thank cellist Rachel Halverson for her beautiful rendition of Kol Nidre. Finally, I would like to thank the Ritual Committee members and several other members for their help in coordinating our High Holiday activities. Thanks to Rob Goldstein, Sue Goldstein, Robin Flake, Bob Huebsch, Rebecca Baskin, Joel Landsberg, Stephanie Goldstein, Leslie Prass, Kristine Goldstein, Melissa Adelman, Julie Segal, and Michael Gutenstein. My apologies if I missed anyone but it truly was a team effort. From setting up the registration site, to assigning all of the participation roles for services, to coordinating our break-the-fast event at the end of Yom Kippur, it is a herculean effort and we so appreciate all of their time and energy in bringing it all together. We could not put on these services without all of their help.
For those who attended our services or helped out along the way, I would also like to thank you. It was great to see so many members, as well as so many from the community in attendance. We hope everyone enjoyed the services and hopefully we will see you again at one of our upcoming services or events.
As we move into the Jewish new year, I wanted to spend a few minutes asking for your support with our upcoming elections. Nominations are currently open for Vice President, Director of Finance, Director of Communications, and Director at Large. If you are interested in any of these positions or wish to nominate someone, please send an email to [email protected]. As you can imagine, it takes many volunteers to help run CNT. By being a part of the board, you are not only doing a mitzvah for our synagogue but the Jewish community as a whole. Please consider volunteering for one of these important positions. Nominations will close Sunday, October 20.
As I reflect on the High Holiday events of the past few weeks and look to the future with our elections, I am proud to be a part of the Congregation Ner Tamid family. Thanks to our members and extended community for your continued support of Congregation Ner Tamid. Have a great rest of the week and hope to see you soon.
