Lech L'cha ... Go Forth
Genesis 12:1−17:27
The Eternal said to Abram, "Go forth from your land, your birthplace, your father's house, to the land that I will show you."
- Genesis 12:1
SUMMARY:
· Abram, Sarai, and Lot go to Canaan. (12:1-9)
· Famine takes them to Egypt, where Abram identifies Sarai as his sister in order to save his life. (12:10-20)
· Abram and Lot separate. Lot is taken captive, and Abram rescues him. (13:1-14:24)

Hope everyone survived the Daylights Savings Time change and is getting acclimated to the time change. As we head towards the end of the calendar year, I wanted to remind our members about a few events coming up.
Election nominations have closed and
ballots are on their way to member homes. Please take a few minutes to review candidate information, cast your votes, and return them before the due date. Your support in this process is appreciated as we look to fill out the CNT board for 2020. On a different note, I would like to invite members to our
year end member event on Saturday, December 14
. Please save this date and be on the lookout for more details. It will be a great way to get together as a congregation and a community to culminate the year. Finally, I would like to invite everyone to the community Menorah Lighting on December 28
on the Marietta Square. Come out and support our congregation and our community in this annual tradition. See below for more information.
This weekend we have a few events planned. On Friday night, we will have a
Potluck Shabbat with the theme of "Breakfast for Dinner". Please bring a breakfast themed dairy dish to share. Dinner begins at 6:30 pm with Shabbat Services led by Rabbi Prass to follow. On Saturday evening, the Women's group will be hosting a
craft night event beginning at 6:00 pm. The theme of this event is "Corks" where they will be making unique cork charms to incorporate into jewelry pieces, book marks, key rings, wine
charms, and more! See below for more information.
A couple of updates on our
Sunday hikes. As some of you may be aware, the National Park Service will begin charging a fee on November 13
at the various parking lots that are part of the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park system. So beginning Sunday, November 17, we will be meeting at 9:00 am. at CNT and either carpool to the visitor center or walk behind the synagogue towards Kennesaw Avenue in order to connect into the trail system to hike to the top of the mountain. For this coming Sunday, November 10
, we will continue to meet by the flagpole at the Visitor Center at 9:15 am. Although the weather is beginning to turn cooler, it has been very refreshing to be outside and get some exercise as a group. Hope to see you there this Sunday. Please rsvp to
[email protected]
if you plan to join us so we can be on the lookout for you and if you are running a few minutes behind, we will know to wait for you.
Finally, I would like to remind everyone about our
Slice of Life Pie Fundraiser. This is a great way to get a tasty pie from local bakery Southern Baked Pie while supporting Congregation Ner Tamid.
Pies can be frozen for use at Thanksgiving or other holiday get-togethers. Orders are being taken through November 12
(payment due) and will be available for pickup on Sunday, November 17
. Please email
[email protected]
if you are interested in purchasing one... or several. See details below.
I know this time of year can be very busy. Before we know it, Thanksgiving will be upon us and then on to December and what that brings into our already busy lives. I hope you will take some time to join Congregation Ner Tamid at one or more of our upcoming events or Friday Night Services. Thanks for being a part of our congregation and helping to support the Jewish community as a whole.
Have a great rest of the week!
Brad Seitel,
President
