The Message this Week

Preaching Text: Acts 15:1-18

No small dissension and debate! The early leaders of the church had a lot to figure out and it wasn’t all delivered to them via holy messengers descending from heaven with fully formed plans. It was hours and days long meetings full of debate and disagreement. Ultimately, they land in a place of grace. We’ll explore what that meant to them and us this weekend.

Holy and mighty God, thank you for your abundant grace for us. Help us to receive it fully and then to share it generously. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

WONDERING...

Real questions from real people to learn more about faith.

What is grace?

  • We welcome our new members into our flourishing congregation.
  • Help us to see the natural environment as we see ourselves, and work for the restoration and preservation of all that you have made.
  • Guide leaders throughout the world to truly listen to those most vulnerable and make changes that transform lives and situations.
  • Comfort and sustain all who journey with ongoing health challenges especially Ric Tornberg. Guide caregivers and medical providers, grant patience and acceptance to loved ones, and bring peace to troubled hearts.
  • Give us humility to ask for and accept care and grace from others.
  • May we honor those saints who have gone before us by continuing the walk of faith, that others might follow after us, continuing the chain of community in Christ.

We surround with our prayers:

The family of Shirley Zars, who died on May 14. Her life will be celebrated on Monday, May 19 at 11 AM at GLC. Watch for the special email for the luncheon.

The family of Shirley Erickson who died on May 12. Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, July 5 at GLC. More information will be shared closer to the date.

Ted Homewood has done a great job as our treasurer over the past few years. He is stepping down as the GLC treasurer at the end of the budget year August 31 and we are seeking a new treasurer.

This is a volunteer position and requires someone who is good with numbers, comfortable with spreadsheets and basic budgeting and has some flexibility in their schedule.

For more information or to express interest, contact Mike Slifka.
