Calling all Congress exhibitors, associations and participants... Are you aware of, or are you involved with, a Congress 2019 activity worthy of more attention? Canada Prizes double in value
 $10,000 each. Federation President Guy Laforest called it "a testimony to the important impact these exceptional authors are having on Canada's literary landscape." Two Canada Prizes are awarded annually to the best scholarly books in the humanities and social sciences that have received funding from the Federation's Awards to Scholarly Publications Program. Finalists will be announced in March and winners in April
Cindy Blackstock - Chatelaine's Women of the Year list
Former Federation Board of Director, Equity and Diversity, Cindy Blackstock has been appointed to Chatelaine magazine's Women of the Year list for 2018. Currently a professor at McGill University's School of Social Work, Blackstock is also a tireless advocate for Indigenous children's rights. The Federation extends its warmest congratulations to her for this latest recognition. 
Are you a storyteller?
The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council has launched its annual #SSHRCStorytellers challenge . Open to all post-secondary students, this nationally renowned contest asks students to show Canadians how humanities and social sciences research is positively affecting our lives, our world and our future. Submissions are being accepted until January 31, and 25 finalists will be invited to Congress 2019 to compete for a spot in the Final Five.
New funding for data management
A new Research Data Management Capacity Building Initiative has been launched by the the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. This set of Connection Grants is designed to help the research community develop standards, practices, tools and skills related to research data management. Grant applications are being accepted periodically until August 2019.
2019 Indspire Awards
The highest national honour bestowed upon leaders and achievers of the Indigenous community will be awarded at the annual Indspire Awards ceremony  on February 22 in Calgary, Alberta. Dr. Vianne Timmons, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Regina (host institution of the 2018 Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences), is a 2019 Award recipient. Congratulations, Dr. Timmons! Anyony not able to make the awards ceremony can tune into the broadcast!

Has a mentor made a difference in your graduate student community? The Canadian Association for Graduate Studies (CAGS) is looking to highlight the hard work of Canada's most outstanding mentors. Submit your nomination for the  2019 Award for Outstanding Graduate Mentorship before February 15, 2019.
