CONGRESSMANN MAIL
Proudly serving the BIG FIRST of Kansas
THE MANN MINUTE
Since the last Mann Minute there has been a lot of activity in Washington D.C. and the District.
Here are the highlights.
ISSUES IMPORTANT TO KANSAS
No Land Grab Act of 2021
I introduced the No Land Grab Act to stop the Biden Administration's attempt to seize private property. President Biden's 30x30 proposal could potentially strip away Kansans’ private property rights to meet an arbitrary climate goal. My legislation works to protect Kansas agriculture.

Check out the video about the bill below:
Kansas Farm Bureau generously hosted me in a virtual townhall earlier this month. We had a great conversation about issues important to Kansas agriculture and my work on the House Agriculture Committee.

IN THE NEWS
I spoke with KVOE Radio in Emporia about our nation's spending, Kansas unemployment, and Biden's infrastructure plan. President Biden's American Rescue Plan has added trillions of dollars to the national debt with potential for even more spending through the Administration's proposed infrastructure plan.
ICYMI: Read my op-ed in the Salina Journal recounting what I witnessed at the southern border. Even if President Biden and Vice President Harris refuse to admit it, we are facing national crisis, and they must act.

COMMITTEE WORK
House Agriculture Committee
During the House Agriculture Committee Hearing on rural broadband, I asked the witnesses about expanding broadband access to Kansans, and how the federal government can better involve the private sector solutions to bring broadband to rural communities.
There is bipartisan support on this issue, and I am glad we were able to highlight these efforts to better connect our communities across the globe.

I want to ensure rural communities are not missing out on opportunities in telehealth and remote work and are able to take the next step in precision agriculture.

Watch my discussion with the Committee below:
House Veterans' Affairs Committee
I testified in front of the House Veterans' Affairs Economic Opportunity Subcommittee about the recent legislation I introduced to combat veteran homelessness.

The VA Affordable Housing for Homeless Veterans Act would increase the number of affordable housing options, especially in high-cost areas, to help reduce the recent uptick of veteran homelessness due the pandemic. Our job as the Veterans' Affairs Committee is to ensure we are taking care of and doing right by our veterans.

Watch my testimony on this bipartisan, commonsense legislation to help curb veteran homelessness:
IN THE OFFICE
Getting People Back to Work
It has been more than a year since the pandemic shut down the country. I spoke on the House Floor about the importance of getting Americans back to work. It is time to take off the masks, get our kids back to school, get our businesses open, get people back to work and get America back on track.
Rural Broadband #EndtheDigitalDivide
Rural America is the backbone of our nation’s economy, but a strong rural America starts with strong connectivity. It is time for Washington to end the partisanship and get to work. Let’s unleash the power of American ingenuity and restore a robust rural economy.
National Police Week
During National Police Week, I highlighted one of the finest law enforcement officers in Kansas - Michael Utz. Chief Utz served the Garden City community over 36 years and just retired. Thank you Chief Utz for your service to the Big First.
"Max Pressure" Press Conference with Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo
It was great to join former Secretary Mike Pompeo and the Republican Study Committee for the rollout of "Max Pressure". Congress needs to be part of the conversation, and America needs to continue the maximum pressure campaign on Iran.
Meeting with Dodge City Business Leaders
I met with Dodge City business leaders in my Washington, D.C. office. They gave me an update on the community and how businesses are growing and adapting with the pandemic. It was great to hear how well Dodge City is doing.
