The heavy rains in late July caused flooding across Lake Forest and the response by the City staff was prompt, proactive, and impressive. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has been involved in dealing with the aftermath of the storms – from showing up at 4 am to mitigate flooding to conducting special flood debris pickups to answering tough phone calls. I know these natural events cause a great deal of stress for residents and staff, but the way I’ve seen staff step up through the aftermath shows what a strong organization we are. I appreciate everyone’s commitment and support to our residents and colleagues who have shifted priorities to recover from the storms. Thankfully, the upcoming weather forecast seems warm, sunny, and most importantly, dry.

I am also thrilled to share that our annual Employee Rib Cook Off and Family Picnic returns on Saturday, September 24. This event is a fantastic opportunity for staff to come together, relax, and celebrate all the amazing work you do. With HR actively recruiting for the Activities Committee, I look forward to new and exciting activities at this year’s picnic. It will be nice to take a step back and enjoy the picnic with everyone in September. I also hope to improve upon my mediocre finish in last year’s competition! Until then, I hope you enjoy the final days of summer.
