Important Payroll Updates for 2025

Each year, there are two months with three payrolls, and no benefit deductions are taken from the third payroll. In 2025, these months are January and August.

Due to the BCBS insurance transition, HR and Finance need extra time to update benefit changes. As a result:

Benefit deductions will occur on the second (January 17) and third (January 31) payrolls of January.
The first paycheck of the year (January 3) will NOT have benefit deductions.

All benefits will still take effect on January 1, 2025, even though deductions won’t be taken until later in the month.

HRA Reminder

If you have remaining funds in your 2024 HRA, there is a 6-month run-out period (through June 30, 2025) to submit HRA claims.

After June 30, you will have the following options for the remaining funds:

Transfer to an HSA
Transfer to deferred compensation (subject to taxes)
Cash-out option (subject to taxes)

A form will be sent in August 2025 to those with remaining balances to select their preferred option for the funds.

Update to LifeLock

Effective immediately, Norton and Lifelock are combining to become Norton Lifelock Benefit Solutions, offering a better experience for City of Lake Forest employees.

Current enrollees should have received notification from Lifelock outlining the updates to their plan. They can immediately log in and begin taking advantage of the new plan features.

Joseph joins the City from New Hampshire where he was a Firefighter and Advanced EMT for 3 years. Joseph and wife have relocated to Illinois along with their two young daughters. Joseph enjoys golfing, fishing, landscaping/gardening and is a sports fan. Stop in and welcome Joseph to the City.
