It’s hard to believe another busy summer is wrapping up! It’s a cliché, but they really do go by fast. As a City we’ve had a record year for capital projects, some still underway, and many successful community events such as the July 4th fireworks and Lake Forest Day celebrations. I want to take a moment to thank all of you for your hard work and contributions, and to congratulate you on another successful summer. I hope you and your families also found opportunities to enjoy some well-deserved rest and relaxation.
As we transition to fall, several new initiatives will soon begin throughout the organization. In the coming weeks we will share the results of our recent Community Survey and will use that data to inform upcoming budget and strategic planning processes that will begin in late fall or early winter. I have no doubt the results will reflect the satisfaction and appreciation our residents have for the incredible level of service you provide!
In the coming months we will also engage outside assistance to conduct an organizational workload analysis. As you recall from recent City Manager conversations, the goal of this exercise is to better understand potential pressure points within the organization, and to ultimately assist us in prioritizing those within the context of our limited resources. Finally, HR will soon be bringing back the Benefits Committee as we undertake a comprehensive review of employee health benefits. As these are your benefits, and decisions made directly impact you and your families, we want to ensure we hear from you as part of this process. There will ample opportunity for employee feedback and participation throughout the process, which will likely take a full year to complete.
These are just a glimpse of some of the important projects underway or soon to begin. I look forward to an exciting fall (my favorite season) beginning with the rib cook-off on September 23rd. I hope you all can make it and bring your appetites!
