It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly one year since the City Council adopted the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan.

Revisiting the objectives and initiatives outlined in the plan, I’m proud to share that we’ve made meaningful progress in each of the seven priority areas:

  • Fiscal Stewardship
  • Infrastructure and City Facilities
  • Public Safety
  • Recreation and Community Well-Being
  • Community’s Visual Character and Development
  • Business and Economic Vitality
  • Community Engagement

From strengthening public safety initiatives to pursuing grant opportunities to expanding recreation programming to meet the community’s needs, the progress we’ve seen this year is a direct reflection of your hard work and dedication. We’ll be sharing a more detailed Strategic Plan update with City Council this fall, and I look forward to highlighting all that has been accomplished.

At the same time, the strength of our organization comes from more than just hard work – it’s also built on the connections we have with each other. That’s why I’m looking forward to the Annual Employee Picnic this Saturday, September 6. With a full lineup of rib smokers and dessert bakers, it’s a great chance to enjoy time together and with our families.

🧁Save the Date! 2025 Family Picnic, Rib Cook-Off, and Bake-Off 🧁

Open Enrollment – It’s Not Too Early to Start Planning!

Open enrollment is scheduled for November 10-23, and the HR Department has been meeting over the last several weeks to schedule ample opportunities for employees to ask questions about the various insurance plans available.

While details are still being finalized, HR expects to lead a virtual learning session, provide opportunities for 1-1 consultations, and host a “Benefits Fair” with most of the insurance and benefits vendors.

In the meantime, employees are encouraged to start reviewing current coverage, consider any changes in healthcare needs, and discuss options with family members. Taking time now to evaluate what worked well—and what didn’t—over the past year can help ensure you select the plan that best fits your needs for 2026.

Benefit summaries, plan documents, and more can be found on Citylf.org.
