An Attitude of Gratitude @ Your Library
Letter from the Library Director

The Christian writer G. K. Chesterton had the right idea when he said we need to get in the habit of "taking things with gratitude and not taking things for granted." Gratitude puts everything in a fresh perspective; it enables us to see the many blessings around us. And the more ways we find to give thanks, the more things we find for which to be grateful. For me, Thanksgiving is not just about family, shopping, and eating; it's the time I can catch up with my friends. Each Thanksgiving, I'm incredibly grateful for the enduring friendships I have established and enjoy.

Your Writing Journey Begins at Your Library
Are you an aspiring or seasoned writer? We have the resources you need to bring your stories to life. Visit our Writer's Resources page, where we gather all of our writing resources together on one page. With Pressbooks Public, you can create, edit, and format your book. Pressbooks offers over 20 free themes, so you get the right design for your creation. When you've finished putting your work together, submit it to BiblioBoard's Indie Author Project so you can reach more readers through the library, locally and potentially all across the U.S. and Canada.
Through BiblioBoard Library's easy-to-use website or app for Apple, Android, or Kindle, you can enjoy digital books, images, videos, and more from libraries, artists, authors, and others from your community and worldwide. Even better, there are never holds, waitlists, or complicated checkout processes. All items in the BiblioBoard Library are always available.

SJCPLS offers the Books-by-Mail service for the convenience of browsing the library's collection from the comfort of home, at your leisure, for when life's other obligations are too time-constraining to allow time to visit a library in person. Library cardholders may sign up for this service by filling out an application. Once accepted, you'll be able to receive the Books-by-Mail red bag of library materials right to your doorstep. Items may be returned free of charge to any SJCPLS library or bookmobile or returned in the same red bag via USPS at the same postage rate the library pays. Homebound patrons may be eligible for free mail postage after completing a Certificate of Eligibility. For more information about Books-by-Mail, visit sjcpls.org/books-by-mail.
