Celebrating 30 Years of Black History Month

This February, CTN joins communities across Canada in recognizing Black History Month. At CTN, our commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, Indigeneity and accessibility (EDIIA) guides the work we do each day. Black History Month is a meaningful reminder for all of us to reflect on our roles in advancing EDIIA, not just in February, but year‑round.

This year marks 30 years of national recognition. There are many opportunities to learn more about the history of this month and acknowledge the contributions of Black individuals and communities. We’ve compiled a list of local community events, workshops, exhibitions and virtual learning experiences, and a collection of books, videos, articles and tools for all ages to support ongoing learning and appreciation.

Volunteer Board Director Opportunities Available

Do you have interest in or experience in governance? CTN is seeking individuals with strategic leadership experience in the areas of accounting/financial management (CPA designation), information technology, service quality and performance and/or leadership experience in children’s and community services, health, public or non-profit sectors.

We strongly encourage applications from people with diverse lived experiences. This includes family members/caregivers of individuals with disabilities/developmental needs. It also includes individuals with disabilities, individuals who identify as Black, Indigenous, racialized individuals, members of the LGBTQ2S+ community and individuals from other equity-owed communities.

CTN’s Board plays a vital role in advancing CTN’s vision of a vibrant community where all kids, youth and families belong, supporting more than 39,000 kids and youth with disabilities and developmental needs.

If you, or someone you know, is interested in using their experience and leadership to help achieve our vision, we invite you to learn more. Application deadline: March 6, 2026.
