2019 Annual Convention Registration Now Open for

Clergy and Convention Delegates, the 2019 Annual Convention Website is up and registration is open. An important email was sent with Convention information on October 30, so please check your inbox. This year's Convention will Saturday, January 26 at Camp Weed & Cerveny Conference Center in Live Oak, Florida.

New Regional Canons Appointed
We are pleased to announce the following Regional Canons appointments:

  • The Rev Canon John Wesley and The Rev. Canon Bob Goolsby are the new co-Regional Canons of the River Region
  • The Rev Canon Nancy Suellau remains the First Coast West Regional Canon
  • The Rev Canon B. Wiley Ammons remains the First Coast East Regional Canon
  • The Rev Canon Lance Home remains the Santa Fe Regional Canon

The Living Church Board of Directors Held Annual Meeting at Diocesan House
T he Diocese recently welcomed The Living Church foundation board of directors to Jacksonville for their annual meeting. T he Living Church Foundation, Inc. , is an independent, not-for-profit foundation of communion-minded and committed Anglicans from several nations, devoted to seeking and serving the full visible unity of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church. The Living Church Foundation also publishes The Living Church , a biweekly magazine of Anglican Communion news, cultural analysis, and teaching as well as several other publications.

2018 Ministry Exploration Day: December 1, 2018
Are you exploring the Holy Spirit’s movement in your current vocation? Are you interested in further exploring both lay and ordained ministry? If so, the Diocese of Florida is sponsoring a Ministry Exploration Day, to be held on December 1 at Church of Our Saviour in the Mandarin area of Jacksonville. Spouses are encouraged to attend, and must also register to attend.

Bishop's Institute News and Events
Lay Ministry School Beginning in January
We are thrilled to announce the beginning of the Lay Ministry School for Licensed Lay Worship Leaders (LLWL) and Licensed Lay Catechists (LLC) this January. This course is to prepare lay leaders in our churches to lead public worship and to be properly trained catechists (teachers of the Christian faith) to assist with preparing candidates for baptism and confirmation. Candidates who complete the course will receive a license from the Bishop for their ministry.

Diocesan Happenings
St. Mary’s Episcopal ’s food ministry is EXPANDING! We have partnered with Feeding NE Florida, Harvey’s, and Wal-Mart to be able to pick up fresh produce, meats and bakery items. This is great news for those in need, but we are now in desperate need of a cargo van to pick up those items. We also have many volunteer opportunities for pickup, logging, and stocking the food. If you can help, please contact Jordan Meirow at (904) 354-5075 or email [email protected] .
2018 Fall Post Meeting
Thank you to all our Professional Office Staff Together (POST) members who joined us last week at Camp Weed for our one-day fall retreat. Please mark your calendars for our Summer POST retreat happening June 9-11 at Camp Weed in Live Oak, FL. Thank you to all who attended, and a special thanks to Bishop Howard and his wife, Marie, for attending and sharing a special lesson.
