"Be the Light" Gala Raises Over $100,000 for Cathedral District-Jax Nonprofit
The nonprofit Cathedral District-Jax (CD-Jax), held its first fundraising event, the "Be the Light" gala, at St. John’s Cathedral on Sunday, Nov. 7. About 250 people attended the gala and were entertained with a concert featuring a Jacksonville Symphony Ensemble and a colorful light show. Following the concert, a silent auction was held in Taliaferro Hall.

CD-Jax met its goal of raising $100,000 to support the day-to-day operations and admin of the nonprofit and a month-long free event of lighting the entire Cathedral District in Jacksonville throughout December.

Just five years old, the nonprofit is working toward creating a leafy, green, vibrant neighborhood where a diverse array of residents can live, work and play together. Ginny Myrick, CEO and president of CD-Jax, told the audience that more than 300 residences are already underway just blocks from St. John’s Cathedral, and the goal is to create 2,500 new living spaces.
