Red Ribbon Week

Students are getting ready for Red Ribbon Week® here at Da Vinci celebrated Oct 23-27th. What Is Red Ribbon Week? It is a way for people and communities to unite and take a visible stand against drugs and celebrate healthy lifestyle choices and habits. We hope to have students show their personal commitment to a drug-free and healthy lifestyle through participation in various activities October 23 - 27th. We will have a “wear red day” and see health related content in classes and presentations.

This year’s theme is: “Be Kind To Your Mind. Live Drug Free”. We hope to strengthen anti-drug-use attitudes and norms through sharing information. Please partner with us and discuss this message at home, at the dinner table, at family outings, and with friends and extended family. Ask your child to tell you about things they hear at school about Red Ribbon Week®!

A Message from Dr. Emily Green

Welcome back 23-24

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

Welcome back! I hope you had a relaxing, fun and healthy summer! Here is an update from the health team-

Health Accommodations/Needs: If your student needs health support during the school day or has any injury or accident you would like us to be aware of, please contact school nurse at egreen@davincischools.org. (example: is having an upcoming surgery, diagnosed with a new condition, experiences a concussion over the weekend, etc). Short term accommodations or referral for increased support can be put in place for your student.

Medications: If your child needs to take medication during the school day, we require physician and parent authorization, including over the counter medications. Medical Authorization Form. Students are strictly prohibited from bringing any medication to school unless this form is completed. This form can be emailed, faxed or dropped off on campus. For medication needs without authorization, parents are welcome to come to campus to administer.

Illnesses: Parents are encouraged NOT to send their child to school if they appear ill. A child should remain at home for their own welfare and for the protection of other students if they have a fever >99 degrees or if they are sick with symptoms such as productive cough, vomiting, diarrhea.

**COVID: Please continue to report all cases of COVID to egreen@davincischools.org. Students are asked to isolate for 5 days from illness onset or positive test per LA County Public Health protocols and we will assist in calculating the return timeline. Contact notices will be sent to families if there are 3 or more linked cases confirmed in our community. COVID tests are available at school for students to use and take home as needed. Masks are welcome and optional for all staff and students.

Vision/ Hearing Screening: Students and families can request a vision and hearing screening. Vision vouchers for free eye exams and glasses are available for eligible families.

More information can be found at https://www.davincischools.org/health-services/
