Dear Connect HS Families,


As we move into Student-Led Conferences (SLCs) the week of October 20th, we want to share a few important updates with you.


Next week, all What I Need (WIN) classes will be dedicated to SLC preparation. This means students will have 45 minutes each WIN period to work on creating and refining their SLC presentations.

Regular grade-level advisory classes will continue as usual—and we’re excited to share some great news about what’s happening in Advisory!


We’re introducing Advisory Teams—a new way for students to build stronger connections within their advisories through friendly competitions and creative challenges throughout the year.

Each month, advisories will participate in engaging activities that encourage teamwork, social-emotional growth, and school spirit.

We’ve already started our first challenge, where each advisory created a team name, motto, and poster that reflects their group’s identity and values. The creativity and collaboration students have shown so far has been incredible!

• October Challenge: Fall Pumpkin Decorating Contest – a festive way to celebrate the season together!
• 
  
• November Challenge: Each advisory will “adopt” a local organization and host a donation drive to give back to the community.
  

Alongside these fun challenges, advisories will also include social-emotional learning activities, team bonding, and weekly features like Advisory Wordles and connection games—all designed to help students practice empathy, resilience, and communication skills.


To close out October, we’ll celebrate with our annual Trick-or-Treat event, a favorite Connect HS tradition that brings together our entire school community for some lighthearted fun!
