Connect With Pacifica This Week

The second community conversation meeting on housing issues will be on May 21, 6:00 to 8:30 pm at Ingrid B. Lacy Middle School and I strongly recommend you attend. Dinner and child care will be provided to attendees. You can view an informational video about this partnership between San Mateo County-Home For All and the City. RSVP now to save your spot. Thank you to everyone who came and participated in the first conversation that was held on April 13. It was hugely successful, with more than 80 of you joining to lend your voice to this important community issue. A summary of the first meeting is here . Help spread the word to your fellow Pacificans to encourage their attendance as well.

Pacifica Police and Firefighters occasionally save lives other than humans too. Check out this video of public safety personnel rescuing a different sort of community member – a baby fawn!

As always, go safely this week and please let me know if you have comments or questions, and  thank you  for wanting to  Connect with Pacifica !

City Manager
The City of Pacifica, in partnership with the County of San Mateo’s Home for All program, is hosting the second community conversation on housing on May 21. The meeting follows a hugely successful first community conversation in April where more than 80 residents and small business owners shared their experiences with the current housing situation. We heard about difficulties finding and affording housing in Pacifica, challenges recruiting and retaining employees, families leaving due to the rising costs of housing, and concerns about changes in the community character from building more housing. View a summary of the first meeting.

The second community conversation will follow a similar small-group, roundtable format to ensure a safe space for the exchange of ideas. The topics of presentation and discussion will pick-up where we left off at the last meeting by discussing in more detail some of the housing solutions the community has identified as having potential in Pacifica. These include accessory dwelling units (ADUs), home sharing, and in-fill/mixed-use development.

All members of the community are welcome and encouraged to attend. No public speaking is required. Don’t worry if you didn’t attend the first meeting, we will have a summary at the beginning of the second meeting to ensure we are all on the same page.

Dinner and child care (ages 3+) will be provided to attendees. Please join us to continue the conversation. RSVP NOW
