Connect With Pacifica This Week
Greetings!

A couple large events are happening in and around Pacifica this Saturday, August 4, so be prepared for more weekend traffic than usual. I encourage you to use alternative forms of transportation if possible as you head out to enjoy the weekend. The World Dog Surfing Championship is Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Linda Mar Beach, and the Half Moon Bay Marathon is Saturday morning as well.

On the topic of pets, whether you have one that surfs or not, a reminder that all dogs in San Mateo County are required to be licensed, and it is recommended that cat owners in Pacifica license their cats as well. Having a licensed pet is the best way to be reunited if they get lost. Licensing is affordable, and easy to do, details here .

Please let me know if you have comments or questions, and  thank you  for wanting to  Connect with Pacifica !

Sincerely,
KEVIN WOODHOUSE
City Manager

  • National Night Out 2018: A Fun Way to Partner with Pacifica Police to Support Anti-Crime Programs - On Tuesday, August 7 Pacifica will be participating in the 35th Annual National Night Out. Held on the first Tuesday in August each year, this national campaign is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. A number of neighborhoods, apartment buildings, townhome communities and businesses annually register to participate in this annual event. Some host ice cream socials, barbecues, or pot-luck gatherings. Some neighborhoods simply turn on their porch light between 6:30 PM and 9:00 PM that night. It is up to each block and business that participates to decide how they want to gather together with their neighbors. You don’t have to be an official neighborhood watch group to participate in National Night Out. You may be a couple of neighbors who merely want to get to know each other better and promote safety in your neighborhood. This is a great way to start and begin an annual tradition in your neighborhood. See the Press Release for more information.
