Connect With Pacifica This Week
Greetings!

We’ve had some pretty cold weather this week, which brings to mind the cost of heating to stay warm, as well as the environmental impact of heating. Fortunately, the County of San Mateo and all twenty of its cities launched Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE) in 2016 to provide clean energy at lower rates, with an estimated savings to San Mateo County customers of $17 million per year and lowering Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by more than 300,000 metric tons per year. Now PCE is piloting a small grant program for nonprofits to increase outreach to customers about eligibility for discount programs and saving money on their electricity bills. I encourage you to learn more about this grant program and PCE , in order to save money and reduce GHG emissions. In addition, the City’s Climate Action Plan webpage has additional information about other ways to reduce GHGs, such the SCOOP carpooling app (you can get paid to carpool!) and home energy efficiency tips. Check them out.

Please let me know if you have comments or questions, and  thank you  for wanting to  Connect with Pacifica !

Sincerely,
KEVIN WOODHOUSE
City Manager
