In the not-too-distant future, the City Council will consider the adoption of zoning regulations marijuana dispensaries in Pacifica. The Planning Commission will be making recommendations on this and has been considering the matter for some time and is close to finishing its work.  The next consideration of the Planning Commission will take place on Monday, May 15 at 7pm in the City Council Chambers.  It should be an interesting discussion. (See the Staff Report on this item here.)

If you like coffee (or a related beverage) and would like to know your local police force better, your opportunity to combine the two is coming up. The next edition of “ Coffee With a Cop” will be held at Starbuck’s in the Fairmont Shopping Center from 9am – Noon on Friday, May 19.  Setting aside some time to get to know those who help to keep our community safe is time well spent.  I hope to see you there.

Update on Rent Stabilization and Just Cause Eviction
On May 8, 2017 the City Council called for a Special Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, and Submitting to the Electors of the City of Pacifica a proposed Ordinance entitled “Pacifica Community Preservation, Rent Stabilization, and Renters’ Rights Act.” If adopted by the voters, the ballot measure would permanently establish rent stabilization and just cause for eviction in Pacifica. Please see the Resolution and full text of the ballot measure. At a Special Meeting of the City Council on Tuesday, May 16 at 7:30pm, the Council will consider direction to staff regarding mandatory mediation process for rent disputes. See the Agenda for details.

  • Planning Commission to Hold Public Hearing on Marijuana Regulations - On Monday, May 15 the Planning Commission will hold a hearing to consider regulations for marijuana operations in Pacifica including personal outdoor cultivation requirements; and operation, location, and permitting requirements for dispensaries and other types of marijuana businesses in Pacifica. On Monday the Planning Commission will be asked to make a recommendation to the City Council which will adopt final regulations at a future meeting.     If you are interested in providing input on this item, the Commission meeting begins at 7:00pm in the Council Chambers, 2212 Beach Blvd., Pacifica. You may also send written comments to the Planning Department.

  • Help Imagine Pacifica Libraries Opportunities - Join our community workshops and help develop the future of Pacifica's libraries. The first open house and workshop will be held on May 23 at Ingrid B. Lacy Middle School. An Open House will be held from 4:00pm - 7:00pm and a workshop will be held from 7:00pm - 8:30pm. Drop in during the open house hours or participate in the workshop to hear from the project architects and share your thoughts about site location for a new library, your use of our current libraries, and what you would like to see in library program spaces and activities. Coffee with a Cop at Fairmont Starbuck's on May 19
Join your neighbors and police officers for coffee and conversation at Starbuck’s in Fairmont Shopping Center on Friday, May 19 from 9:00am to 12:00pm. No agenda or speeches, just a chance to ask questions, voice concerns and get to know the officers in your neighborhood.
