Highlights: 15th Annual "Spooktacular", Transition to District-Based Elections, Where Can I Vote, Portola Discovery Exhibits and Hike, Red Ribbon Week
Connect With Pacifica This Week
Greetings!

Two important City Council public hearings regarding moving to a district-based City Council elections system are upcoming on November 17 and November 29 . Similar to hundreds of local governments across California in recent years, a legal challenge based on the California Voting Rights Act is forcing Pacifica to consider moving to a district-based City Council elections system, beginning with the 2020 City Council election. The City is seeking your input in planning for this change and has created a webpage, www.drawpacifica.org , where you can learn more about this process and provide your ideas for district maps, in addition to the upcoming public hearings about the drawing of district maps.

In other news, please take the the 3-minute Pacifica Libraries Vision Survey to let us know your thoughts about the innovative Open Access Library operating model that will keep open and enhance Sanchez Library services while also building a new Sharp Park Main Branch Library!

Finally, note the fun events coming up such as the Spooktacular Halloween event this weekend, and the annual Portola Hike on November 3rd, and information about voting centers and ballot drop-off locations.

Please let me know if you have comments or questions, and  thank you  for wanting to  Connect with Pacifica !

Sincerely,
KEVIN WOODHOUSE
City Manager
